Well, I have successfully de-addicted from watching the soap... just 5-6 months (Not to mention this is the fifth time, I guess... Sorry lost the count of it...) Now very the on-going disgusting Veer track, I will successfully give up reading the updates too...

Well, having being adjusted as the Best Continuing Programme of the year, Congrats to BT team to have successfully able to stick to winners list in three categories... When I looked into it properly, there were only 3 awards - Jay Bhanushali, Jatin Shah, and Kasamh Se. When we look into the reason, why it was - firstly, becoz the actors have large fan following... Jay and Jatin and the actors of Kasamh Se... The awards in this case belongs to the actors individually not to the creative team or the Production House or the channel... I have no doubt... with the way the production house has been leading... there will be no BT serial in the winners list next year. With the rumors of Kayamat and Kasturi going off air... If it comes out true, there is also a chance that Kasamh Se will also meet the same fate.

BT, if I remember well, it became popular and got its name and gave life to so many successful telly actors was because the Production House had faith on the actors and vice versa... But in recent times, the actors have become the face of the serial, instead the opposite... This is the critical point... But, BT is hell bent on going through their long-time hibernation... An actor winning an award for his performance in the serial should bring new heights to both the serial and the actor's career... Alas!!! But this doesnt happen in the case of BT serials in the recent times. Prachi Desai, Ram Kapoor and Ronit Roy winning the award last year for their performances in KS last year was worth a huge applause... It was a feather in their cap of their career... But it cannot be said the same about the serial... Why?

I miss Sandip Sikand, during whose phase the quality of all the shows were at its peak. Losing a talented creative and manager was the beginning of their downfall... It was long after followed by Anil Kumar too... I really liked this director because he gives freshness and reality to the scene in his direction.... I miss him too... He had really give the golden days of KS, KTH, KYPH, etc.... Losing such big senior and creative persons had put BT on the back seat. I really miss them... Have not come across these persons again in Tellywood. Wonder where they are!!!! Not to mention, talented actors are merely wasted... their talents are never tapped and used...

What the audience ask for is a simple, uncomplicated, realistic story... Well, when I am talking about BT, I am definitely asking for more...! 😆 That's why Sphere Origins & Hats Off Productions are loved for. I think twice in the last three years, they got the award for Best Serial with a Social Message...

Also, if we go with the winners list... the serial which won several accolades in a year fails to meet up the expectation the next year... Why?Is this because we, viewers get bored with the serial and look for new one or... the quality of the serial had come down... One serial which is winning award every year is Baa, Bahoo aur Baby... Thats the perfect example of simple narration... Ordinary people are just ordinary with their own talents... But in BT serial, the ordinary people are extraordinary with super-ordinary brains....!!!!!! That's what distinguished BT serial from others....

Will be waiting for the next year of ITA awards ceremony... to see the trend....

Very wonderfully put. SS and AK brought a simplicity to the storytelling where the characters rose, while after them the characters just fell victim to the story telling. Case in point SS showed great suspense and intrigue with Raksanda Khan but never made the characters or Jai or Bani suffer to glorify the vamp, so we loved the vamp too, but after them it seem it was merciless slaughter of the beloeved characters to glorify vamps and evil in the name of story and twists. BT dominated so many years beacause they had a fresh take and not much competition, now all their products are poor remakes of their earlier shows and other PHs with innovation and a simplicity of storytelling are winning the race.

At the end of the day, people can only take so much evil and grosness. I am surprised that she actually pays them to steal scene for sence from her own shows.

Dear Abhilasha,

Very good post. To tell you the truth I am very dissappointed that KS won one award best continuing serial. I think it did not deserve this too. The serial which we loved was simple story of a self made egoistic man and his wife with whom he married unwillingly. Then the story became twisted and horrible....it conveys no social message and the tracks frighten you, the same storyline is repeated again and again....it has become yuck.

Of course BT's contribution to Indian TV industry was immense, why I say this it was they who revolutionarised the TV industry, made icons of their stars, I do not want to take their credit away but then they failed to change with times....times are changing and changing fast.....it is not difficult to tell a simple story, say it with heart and make it interesting with a bit of everything, people will love it...but then Ekta Kapoor is supposed to know everything...will she now come down of her pedestal and listen to us or will she let other production houses walk away with the cake and Ektaji Janata is janardhan, they have very short memory and if they find something better they will not take long to forget you....love Tin

thats a good post and point u have made

even i used to never miss KS even a day

but now even i dont feel like watching the show

as the creatives cant think of any new ideas

IF KS brings JP together again

then i will definately stop watching the show

for god sake

we viewres had enough of this bakwass

now we cant handle any more

wonderful point abhilasha...

ek has always said that in tv...characters are more important than actors...but your point is very valid ..that the trend is changing...as of last year...the people who got the awards more or less were the people who had huge fan followings....either by themselves or as the character...meaning as ram/ronit/prachi or as jai walia/bani/mihir...etc...i would take it as a very healthy trend really as it only improves the quality of the people in the medium and hence of the medium as such....

for example..i know prachi and rajeev khandelwal got the special award coz both are very popular in their own right but to name it that they have scaled up to bollywood does look badly upon the medium whose excellence they want to highlight...the people who are there in tv should think of themselves as equal and deserving..coz in some cases..they are...

as for de addiction..i am not totally de addicted...as in ks is recorded every single time it is aired in US....but i watch only the parts i want to watch..maybe 3-4 or maybe more...minutes and later take care of my addiction by watching old videos...😆...the good scenes...right till the recent reunion...

Welcome to the de-addicted club.... I stopped watching the serials and reading updates a long time back. I have not seen the ITA awards but caught the news that Colors won the maximum awards for BV.

See this is the difference Ekta refuses to acknowledge that viewers are mature enough to give a try to new experiments in the storyline and with new channelsand production houses springing up every other month she has some tough competition But she refuses to take off her blinders.... . My mom is glued to TV from 9: 30 to 11:30 pm to Colors and watches other serials on other channels too but surprisingly none of them belongs to BT. Veteran actors of BT like Ronit Roy , Shweta Tiwari, Hiten Tejwani are working with other production houses that are providing them with variety..... For a successful business woman that she potrays herself as why can't she just accept this simple fact that one can play around with simple storyline without including grossness of ONS, killing innocent children et al....

People still remember Buniyaad, Humlog,

Hi Abhi.... nicely put .... 👏.... agree with you... and I would still say KS does not deserve to win .... not only becasue it showed so much grossness.... but also all these track has nothing new in them ... every single one of them is recycled from other K serial.... so creative did no work what so ever... credit should've been given to the actors for the acting skills.... but appreciating the KS overall is something I don't agree with as creative are taking all the credit when they did nothing what so ever... then recycling ....

Very good post Abhi...

Every successful movie, serials, book etc once you get to the bottom of it is a simple story...a story of an ordinary people, be it two people falling love, someone solving a mystery or just anecdotes of life.

Most of the love story work when they are like those fairy stories we read as children, a poor princess, an evil character and a price charming...I guess that was KS...Bani an ordinary girl, Jigyasa the evil sister and JW the rich tycoon....people were glued when the JW and Bani married because now they wanted to know if the two would fall in love...they were praying for the two to fall in love...it was probably the best period of KS...

Even now some of the other serials my MIL in watchl like Bidaii, Raja ki ayegi baraat, Rakhi have same simple story lines...none of the characters in this stories undergo any drastic butchering...the plots remain believable and the hero and heroine remain the focus of the story.

Every serial has its lifeline...and it is upto the PH to realize when it is and end it successfully. You can bring back the second version of the serial back as a brand new serial with fresh plots and fresh new characters...there several examples of such serials in west that have done this successfully: Star Trek, Bevery Hills 90120 and even Charlies Angels.

We the people get bored easily...so over time we will stop watching a serial that is dragging on and something new catches our eye. That is what PH should realize. Rejuvenate, renovate and rebrand....should be the motto of this houses...

This post very well put and said...It is a disappointment to see KS winning as Best Continuing program as I do not think it deserved that award. There was a time I loved watching KS that I watched one episode over and over till the next episode aired and so forth. Loved the simple story of Jai and Bani and glued me to television. SS and AK gave us that almost like a fairy tale story...They left and butchering started.

Ekta/BT may have been #1 for a long time in TV industry with not alot of competition and may have brought freshness to the shows at one time but with time failed to change and hence keep showing outdated things that is not acceptable to many viewers anymore.

A simple sweet story that KS started out to be is all we ask for but instead we get stuck with all these horible grossness in tracks with time. All they show is the same thing over and over and over with the same repeated tracks. I still watch KS even with all this grossness because of RK but if they are too show this Jai and Pia marriage or any hint of it, then might as well quit while ahead.
