guyz let us discuss sumthing related 2 music.

the chosen one knows u r more interested in knowing abt sum1's gender, abt luv stories, abt terrorism. but amongst all this the sole purpose of this forum i.e., music has been lost. do spend ur precious 2 minutes out of the hours u spend on the forum 4 music so tht it can come back 2 life. he chosen one has taken it upon himself 2 infuse life in the dying music in the forum.

now v all know how much reverred rafi, kishore, mukesh, lata n all other yester year singers. but y is it tht 2day's singers don seem 2 recreate tht magic.

the reasons the king sees is tht the lack of originality. with the current generation preferring R&B, rap, hip-hop the singers r forced 2 sing in these genres. but v also listen 2 the western singers who r masters in this genres. hence these singers cannot b compared 2 them.

even the quality of lyrics has fallen down wid songs like white white face, desi girl etc. these can only catch the attention momentarily but fail 2 sustain it long-time. in some cases the music is so loud tht the lyrics r hardly audible.

another reason can b the quality of movies. the reason indian movies have songs while others don have is bcoz music has alwayz been a part of our culture. tht is how folk-songs came into existence. v have songs 4 every part of our life from birth 2 death. in the olden days the script was made with such care tht songs were used in places where the story cud b told more effectively thru a song than by dialgues.

but wht abt 2day's movies. since these songs come in the movie the situation in the movie also is important. if the quality of the script is not gud enuf widout any solid situations where the feelings can b expresed better by songs then nuthing can b done.

all these above factors helped in the olden dayz songs 2 achieve immunity.

do give ur thoughts. since the chosen one loves old songs he may have been heavily baised n critical. if u feel 2days music can also produce legends do put in ur thoughts so tht v can have a healthy debate.

ITS LACK OF CLASSICAL TRAINING, N CHANGING CHOICE OF AUDIENCE DAILY. WE R IN A MOOD OF LISTENING SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING DIFFERENT, CALL IT X FACTOR.
THAT X FACTOR BECOMES Y FACTOR THEN ZZZZZ FACTOR AND DISAPPEAR. SO IT IS HARD TO FIND KISHORE OR RAFI.😛

yes rafi n kishore cannot b reincarnated. the king does not want clones of them but singers who can b heard even after generations. which none of the singers currently can boast of. its sad but true.

technology is the number one reason why you probably won't get to see a guy or girl and rave about them after their respective generation has completed............

a lot of singers of today are getting away with technology..............most of singers out there today we don't know how good they are until we see them sing live

back in the days of kishore, manna, rafi, hemanta kumar, lata, asha...live performances happened frequently on a regular basis.

My Reasons :

  1. There's no combination of original voice and heavenly levels of quality.
  2. rafi used to train in the open air, so the recording studio was dead easy for him. if your voice has adapted to large environment where its difficult to produce sound.. thats why he was the best live performer + playback material.
  3. Then comes NATURAL TALENT.
  4. Rafi saab said that one may be gifted with a rich original voice, but its tough work to improve, maintain and preserve it.. he used to do lots of riyaz.. thats why his kya hua tera wada still sounded so young even 32 years after his debut..
  5. When your original, you wont have the fear of a)being compared to ur inspiration, b)being "one of the clones" .
  6. here unique voice is now given more importance that voice richness.
  7. technology makes ppl complacent.

my two cents. (rather 7 cents)

firstly, Thanks King bringing in a music related topic..we all were going haywire here for the past few days..i feel radio played a most important part in my time ...where we listened more and saw less, those wonderful geetmala programmes, radio ceylon, bela ke phool..wow those were the days...we listened and cherished the voices.....a rafi, kishore, lata, asha, mukesh ...they were rare, not many ventured into singing...thus they could be singled out and given their right honour......now we find singers by dime a dozen......so it's difficult to find any rafi's or kishore's.....

I notice that there are many Kishore clones but they do not carry the same level of respect and appreciation. I think one's character and driving force is also important.
As to the versatile Rafi Sahab, there hardly is any so all rounded and versatile with such a lovely voice (I think).

Hazaroon saal nargis apni benoori pey roti hai
bari muskil sey hota hai chaman mein dedawar paida

Every thing these days is very commercialized and every one is looking for quick fix (money), people like Rafiji, Kishore da, Lata ji, and Asha ji are hard to find (no one even come close to them), these people were dedicated to their profession and that is the reason why every body recognize them as great singers.
