Katrina Kaif cancels New Year festivities
Katrina Kaif the current darling of Bollywood, was set to participate in grand gala festivities at The Marriot Hotel on New Years eve but the hotel has scrapped the function in deference to the tragedy of the Mumbai terror attacks.
Katrina has further refused to participate in any other show on New Years Eve on the same grounds.
Katrina told reporters," In the wake of the recent events, as a mark of solidarity and support, we have decided to call off the New Year celebrations at the JW Marriott, Mumbai. Keeping in mind the sentiments of the city and the nation we have cancelled the New Year show."
Katrina Kaif was reportedly getting paid rupees Rs one crore for her performance on the 31st night at JW Marriott but the hotel later issued a letter saying that they were canceling the show.
However, sources say that Katrina (who can now perform anywhere else) has decided not to perform at any other New Year bash too.
"Katrina herself is not in the frame of mind to perform given the current air of tragedy not just over Mumbai but across India due to the terrorist attacks. When she and the hotels people decided that there would be no celebrations, she could have gone ahead and performed anywhere else. She is a star and people would have easily paid her the money that she was getting for her performance at JW but she put her foot down and said that doesn't want to be a part of any such bash," according to a source.
