Many of us have already heard about Zayed Khan's generosity ? whether it was buying windcheaters worth Rs 50 lakhs for the crew of his last release Mission Istanbul or whether it was leaving a huge amounts as tip for a salon guy and hotel waiters. But his generous nature doesn't always earn him a pat on the back, specially when it comes to his mom.
Says Zayed , "It's important to boost somebody's morale. If a child has tumour and I think it's genuine, I'll fund the operation. My mom thinks I'm wasting money. Even my wife thinks I'm foolishly generous. But I think it's important to give back."
And as his new flick, Yuvvraaj, is slated for a release, Zayed says he has a surprise gift for the whole crew of the movie. He says, "I'll give the spot boys, ADs (Assistant directors) etc some memento at Yuvvraaj's wrap-up party to acknowledge hard work that they have put in."
The actor says that he always acknowledges the presence of a senior actor on the sets, "I always go up to a senior actor and tell them 'It's an honour to work with you' before we start shooting our first shot for the film."
But when he said the same thing to Salman Khan before they gave their first shot together, he was in for a surprise.
He says, "When I told Salman bhai that it was an honour working with him, he winked and said 'Lucky you!'"
For those who don't know, Zayed plays a spoilt brat in the movie and in real life also, he has been pampered by his older sisters. But now, it's payback time.
Zayed says, "I spoil all my three sisters. I buy them bags and other stuff that cost a fortune because they won't settle for anything less. Considering they deserve more than what they've given me, I do my bit to re-pay for the mamta that they've shown
towards me."
Not only does he pamper his sisters, but the kids in his family.
He says, "I love kids and it's a riot when all my nieces and nephews come home every Sunday for swimming. In the pool, the kids are like 'Zayed mamu this? and Zayed mamu that?' Even at a birthday party, we don't need to invite other kids because there are so many kids in our family."
But talk about 10-month-old Zidaan, and the doting father gets even more excited. He says, "I behave like a child in front of Zidaan. I make silly noises to make him laugh, and dress up funnily and talk to him animatedly to entertain him." But though it's too early to say what Zidaan likes, Zayed says, "He picks up gadgets. Sometimes he pretends to be on a spaceship while he's still in his walker."
Besides having fun with family, film-making also interests Zayed. He and dad, Sanjay Khan, had launched a production house called Kingdom Films in 2006 but they haven't yet churned out a movie nor have they started work on any script. But they are working on three scripts ready.
Zayed says, "There are three scripts that have been written and completed, two of which are based on historical fantasy and one is an action thriller. I'll act in at least one of these three movies but now, we are getting things organised and deciding on which script to shoot first."
