Actors John Abraham , Arshad Warsi and the team of director Kabir Khan's movie 'Kabul Express' received death threats while shooting in Afghanistan.
Concerns for the team's security in Kabul were raised after the Taliban insurgents killed an Indian driver, Maniyappan Kutty, a few days back.
Reports have it that John, Arshad, Kabir and the crew of 'Kabul Express' were also on Taliban's hit-list. The threat became known after Afghan authorities reportedly intercepted radio messages by Taliban.
Consequently, the security around the shooting team was tightened. It is learnt that as many as eighty men were deployed to protect the team.
'Kabul Express' is a movie set in post-9/11 Afghanistan. The movie traces a 48-hour car drive in the war-ravaged country. Arshad plays a cameraman, while John plays a TV director in the film.
Thankfully, the Afghan portions of the movie have been shot. John returned to Mumbai last week.
The actor is presently hospitalized at Mumbai's Leelavati hospital where he is being treated for Typhoid.
