devaki n vasudev

hi guys... first of all i love the show... mostly... the kid playing shri krishna is adorable beyond words and for the most part, this show like ndtv's ramayan has maintained the best qualities of the original sagar productions, the most important of which is the emotional resonance all four have - i.e., the feeling you get when you see something like the episode with krishna and the fruit seller. the one major downer in this show is the characterization of devaki and vasudev. i could care less if they'r wearing jewelry or whatever else, and their acting isn't terrible, but the way their characters are written doesn't appeal to me. for one, they are inconsistent even within the same scene. also, the spirit of these characters as shown in the original is all gone.
two examples that immediately come to mind are 1) a few weeks ago, after vasudev got that beating in the presence of jarasandh, and keshani stops by their cell to apologize. devaki goes from embittered and sarcastic "wah bhabhi, wah" to suddenly hugging her? 2) when the very slow bird bakasur is on his way to gokul, vasudev goes from "our baby scares kans, he's God, we have nothing to worry about" to breaking down and begging the guards for help just as quickly. generally speaking, they both act differently everytime they are shown - sometimes hopeful, sometimes pessimistic, sometimes comforting each other, sometimes making each other feel worse, etc. the worst was in a recent episode, when devaki's talking about being free one day and visiting their son, and vasudev breaks out an evil laugh and tears her hopes apart. that was wierd. old vasudev was the opposite, always comforting and supportive, and the exact daydream/darshan scene that they remade (anyone remember, right before the soja lalla song? if not check it out on dailymotion) originally included him encouraging her, not admonishing her.
this was one major aspect of the original serial that i really loved because the way it portrayed these two was really inspiring. their every dialogue, scene, and song was about "dheeraj" and "vishwaas" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-BzZFlVI9Y). after finding out about krishna being alive, they are totally blissful and never mope around again (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-yH1g4iGiE). they give each other hope not take it away from one another. imo, there was much to be learned about devotion from the way these characters were portrayed in the original, and i hope the new writers realize and correct this one big blunder in an otherwise very good show.

👏that's a wonderful analysis ! I completely agree with u...i don't pay so much attention on devki and vasudev..keshni and kans..whenever they come i change my channel to either DMG or main teri parchai hoon..shows which i miss bec. of JSK..i watch these 3 together 😛

Oh yeah this serial is becoming very redundant 😕 hope to see it getting better.......

thanks for the responses guys... lol on ur keshni comment charu, u would think for a character who's straight from their imagination they would have thought her through a little better. well i guess as of now vasudevs back to being hopeful, which is good for now... when bakasur 1st left for gokul (what was that 3 weeks ago... slow bird lol) he had his little break down regarding krishna's safety n now that he found out krishna killed him (episode before last), he tells devaki he knew that would happen all along... ok then. so much for being consistent. well, the recent scene in which krishna is sabotaging kans' hospitality for durvasa rishi (also a newly invented subplot, i think) was pretty cute n funny, so guess we must be happy with what we get.
