A television producers' association called Core Committee Film Producers' Bodies has asked its members to stop TV shoots due to the harassment by different worker associations regarding payment issues. The association no longer wants to give in to what they feel are the unjustified tactics of the workers. The development took place late Tuesday night.

Even though the news took time to circulate and shooting continued at some places, Mukesh Bhatt -- the chairman of the Core Committee Film Producers' Bodies -- said that the strike was on from their side.

"The strike is on and the shootings are not taking place as far as the television industry is concerned," Bhatt said, adding, "We have unanimously decided that there will not be any further TV shootings until a written agreement emerges between the workers' federations and the producers' bodies."

Earlier this month, as many as 22 unions went on a three-day strike after complaining of non-payments and poor working conditions, resulting in heavy losses for the producers. Nearly 1,40,000 workers took part in the strike.

After three days, a memorandum of understanding was reached but the producers were not happy with the pressure tactics applied by the workers.

"We have instructed all our producer members to co-operate with the decision. If they don't follow instructions, they will be liable for strict disciplinary action by the producer associations," added Bhatt.
