| Sanju fans! Baba's turning arty! Oh no! Bollywood tough guy Sanjay Dutt says he want to play new kinds of roles, including, gulp, "real-life parts". So is he going to only do art films now? Perhaps not, but he says: "At this stage of my career, I want to play roles I haven't done so far. I'm playing a very different role in my next release 'EMI'. It has turned out really, really well. And it goes into a new territory." "I haven't done a real-life part before. And it's a really superb script. So let's see," he said. Produced by Suniel Shetty, the movie is a comedy about three couples that take loans and how, when they cannot pay on time, they are hounded by the recovery agent, Sanjay Dutt. "Mission Istaanbul' didn't work for Suniel as a producer," says Sanjubaba, "Everyone makes mistakes. I'm sure 'EMI' will work for both me and Suniel." He recently turned down Ekta Kapoor and Suniel's "Gen Next", the film that was to be directed by Apoorva Lakhia introducing the winners from the television tsarina's reality show "Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket". While he's ok with flop Mission Istanbul's producer, he appears to be staying well clear of its director, Apurva Lakhia, with whom he also did Shootout at Lokhandwala. "I'm not doing 'Gen Next'. But I've no problems working with Apu again. All he has to do is to come up with a fabulous script. And I am on." He added: "There's absolutely no negativity at all about Apu. I've worked with him in 'Shootout At Lokhandwala' under very trying circumstances. In fact, it was not easy for any of us." Earlier Sanjay dumped his partner Sanjay Gupta amid newspaper reports. The rumour now is that Sanjay is partnering Ekta Kapoor's Balaji to make movies. Asked if this was true, he said he was still in negotiations. |
