And with the biggest stars on the guest list, Akshay's party was touted to be the chicest in Mumbai. And thus it was... truly!
The first ones to reach the party were Kirron Kher and Sikander. The Kher Sher looked a true stud in his white Sherwani. After missing Diwali celebrations last year due to the Singh is Kinng shoot schedule in Australia, Akki was quite upbeat about spending this Diwali with family and friends. To make it special this year, wife Twinkle arranged for a chic bash at their Juhu residence and the invite was sent to the who's who in the industry.
And with the biggest stars on the guest list, Akshay's party was touted to be the chicest in Mumbai. But we guess; we were just expecting too much! The party turned out to be a big flop in the absence of any big stars. The only stars who made up to the party were Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
The Bachchans and the Khans, though invited for the party, chose to stay away. While Shahrukh Khan was in Dubai, Aamir Khan flew to the US. However, Twinkle was busy with her girl gang comprising the hotties like Malaika Arora Khan, Neelam and Maheep Kapoor.
It can be recalled that when Akki did Mujhse Shaadi Karoge with Salman Khan it was the former who stole the show and it seemed as if Salman is playing the second fiddle.
Later, Akshay's Singh Is Kinng act was deemed as an attempt at snatching the Baadshah crown from SRK. Also, Akshay and Aamir have never been on friendly terms. We wonder if that explains the Khan's nonappearance.
But the surprise factor this Diwali was a party at the Bachchan's residence. There were about 15-20 people close to the Bachchans who received the invite and one amongst them was Karan Johar. Incidentally, KJo was also invited for Akshay's party.
