Kareena is shooting for a TV commercial at Mehboob Studios. And she looks like a million bucks. On spotting you , she says, "Come. Let's settle down for a chat." Excerpts from the interview:

• There's one thing I must tell you. You look far calmer these days; quite unlike the restless Kareena we all knew a few years ago.
I was a child then.

• Is it the Saif effect?
Of course, it is. But my experiences in life have also made me stronger.

• Like?
I mean whatever I have gone through in my personal and professional life. I am a much stronger girl now who is far more at ease with herself than I was earlier. I am doing things, which I want to. Even if I go to see a film, I don't see it because I want to know who has done what in it. It's just because I want to see the film.

• You have moved on in your personal life. Was it difficult parting with Shahid Kapur?
Yes, it was a very difficult period. Whatever went wrong between Shahid and me is very personal. I have always maintained that Shahid will always be part of my life. But, we are better off as friends. There is no animosity.

• On hindsight, do you think you could have done something to save the relationship?
I think the time was not right. Destiny took its decision. Sometimes there are no reasons for things which happen in life. Even if there is one, I don't think it would be right to talk about it openly.

• Did it take time for your family to absorb the fact that you were in love with Saif?
No, I don't think so. At the end of the day, my parents want me to be happy. My mother is cool about it. And Karisma and Saif get along like a house on fire.

• How is Saif as a partner?
He is fun and extremely loyal. He has all the qualities which I always wanted in a man.

• Is he very possessive? There were stories that he was upset with your dress at the IIFA awards and he was upset when you gave a peck on the cheek to Sylvester Stallone?
Saif is very supportive. He gives me space. All those stories were false.

• You get along well with his two children, Sara and Ibrahim?
Both his kids are very loving. They are like Samaira (Karisma's daughter) to me.

• Are you in touch with Shahid?
Oh yes. I message him and he messages me.

• What about marriage with Saif?
Way in the future.

• Way in the future? Not in the near future?
(Laughs) Yes, it's in the future definitely, but not for the next two-three years. But, we want to be together.

• You value marriage. You helped Karisma reconcile with her husband Sanjay?
Contrary to what people believe, I am a very homely girl. I am always there for those who are there for me. Frankly, I am nobody to help somebody with their marriage. No outsiders are allowed in any marriage. But as a sister, I can only offer support and advice. It has worked. Karisma is very happy and everything is going great for her.

• Did Goldie Behl invite you to the premiere of Drona?
Only Priyanka Chopra invited me. Nobody else. She messaged me but I couldn't attend the premiere as I was in Italy shooting for Kambakht Ishq.

• And then it was said that you and the Bachchans are going to patch up?
Too much has been said. There is no truth in this. There is no question of any kind of a patch up.

• You lost out on Dostana and Dilli 6 because Abhishek didn't want to work with you?
Firstly, there was no fight with Abhishek. He has decided not to work with me and I have decided the same. If someone is not comfortable working with me, I am not comfortable working with him too.

• Were you offered Priyanka Chopra's role in Fashion?
Yes, it came to me through somebody else and not Madhur. Madhur and I never met for that offer. It just didn't materialise.

• What's happening to your film Milenge Milenge? There were stories that you are not interested in dubbing for it?
That's not true. I think even a bit of shooting is yet to be completed. And I still haven't seen the film. So where is the question of dubbing? Frankly, I have no clue to what's happening in Milenge Milenge.

• How is it working with Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani in 3 Idiots?
I hardly shot with Aamir for two days. I am an ardent fan of Aamir. I am lucky to be working with such a great combo - Aamir and Hirani.

• Does Aamir improvise a lot on the sets? Whatever he does turns into gold.
Whatever he does, he does for the best of the film. I have been mesmerised by Aamir as an actor ever since I saw Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. He is one of the finest actors in India and I think the world agrees with me.Yes bebo i agree with you!😃

Mature but one thing i do not get is she says shes in touch with shahid and shahids denied it a couple of times before..do not get whats going on there guess they know.

I dunno, Shahid said he doesnt keep in touch with her, but at the same time, there were a lotta reports that he msged her after watching Tashan. She also wished him a happy bday. She prolly sends him a message once in a while and he replies back, but as long as they're on a cordial relationship, its ok.

Saif is loyal? Is she joking?

Well shahid is the one who said at first that it was a mutual break up and that he's still in touch wiht her. Then they both appeared on NB togehter and even went out for coffee during the break. I can also say that shahid is the one trying to garner all the sympathy, but since I dont know hwo's wrong and who's right, I wont make those claims.

Its never mutual. Someone always initiates a break up. As far as Shahid getting sympathy, Kareena was all over the place w/ Saif while Shahid had no one. So of course hes gonna get sympathy. Kareena also went on to say that Shahid started dating someone immediately after they broke up. And she made that public! And the funny thing is that he constantly denied it! he was never seen anywhere w/ anyone...but she was all over the place w/ Saif. So what does that mean? It obviously means that she was trying to make herself out to be the good guy.

Kareena needs to stop implying that every single role gets offered to her before anyone else. There is no way that she was ever offered Dostana because the movie was in the pipeline for years. I think i first read about it like 2 years ago because I remember Ash being signed and we didn't hear anything about the it for ages. Abhisekh was always in the movie from the start. Then, Ash opted out after the script was finalized as she did not like it and Priyanka was signed.

I don't think Karan Johar being close to Abhisekh would have offered the movie to Kareena after Ash dropped out. Media just wanted to stir some juicy headline. Also as far as i remember, Kareena was offered some K Jo production that was to be directed by some other dude, I know that because i used to have a soft spot for her back then.

And Fashion went to her first thru someone else not the director/producer of the movie wtf? sry2say but that just sounds hilarious. Madhur Bhandarkar always said Priyanka was the first choice and if she didn't have a talk or got the "offer" from the officials then she DID NOT GET THE OFFER period. Just because someone "discussed" some forthcoming movie with her does not mean that she got the role. Similarly, her auditioning or doing a screen test for a role does not mean she was offered it.

I have noticed that Kareena has this habit of name dropping in her interviews. "I was offered this movie/that movie" ..umm maybe that makes her feel better about herself but it just sounds childish to me..

if i ever see her anywhere i will go up to her "like a typical someone else" and offer her a role in Martin Scorsese's new movie..

No Dostana was offered to her MrsAckles, I remember this specifically so many articles came out way back, and I remember coz our entire forum was very excited coz her career was going through a lull, so a Yash Raj movie was like a ray of sunshine. And then came the news that abhishek didnt wanna work with her, and Johar opted for abhi over kareena coz he didnt wanna mess with Amitabh. Then ti was offered to Aish, and hten later it went to priyanka.

if you think Kareena was offered it first then fine whatever you win, I don't wish to argue about petty issues..
