Today was an episode mainly devoted to Nautanki in all forms, shapes and sizes.....primary participants in this nautankifest were Nupur, Samrat and Benji....but Nupur beat out the other two hopefuls and won the crown for Queen of Nautankifest....Taaliyaan! 😆😆😆
Things I liked:
Mayank's scene with his mother: This was bound to come in this list, no doubt😆😆.....cuz a) it was the ONLY Mayank scene in today's epi and b) M and his mom share an awesome dynamic! I just love the naturalness and ease of the relationship these two share👏👏....it is a rare commodity in this show and most😆.....I liked the way M bossed her around to eat the toast and how there was a role reversal for a little moment there with him acting like the parent and her like the petulant child.....That was a really adorable touch!
And it seems Mayank gets his little sarcastic edge from his mother....given the way she replies to him asking her what's on her plate, "Chashma laga lo"😆😆....These two are awesome together! Especially the way he's wagging her finger at her after she says that and then smiling and pouring the OJ for her😆😆
And then it's interesting how the roles are reversed again and he's back to being the child and his mother is feeding him oranges....Awwwwwwww😆.....
But the best touch was in the end when she explains to him that things aren't always in one's control no matter how much of a perfectionist streak they strive for.....Liked the dialogues there👏👏....She says it so cutely.....'har baar aaj ki tarhan accha toast banta hai??" Mayank looks at burnt toast edges with regret...."Main kuch kehti hoon"?? Mayank looks at her with clueless/Mom's trying to make me feel guilty expression.....and then that adorable touch of her hugging him and ruffling his hair in the end....and his hand jumps to smooth it out as usual😆😆
I felt that dialogue in the end when Mayank says to himself, "Shaayad main hi itna demanding hoon" was not needed....it would have been better if they'd just shown him musing to himself over what his Mom had just told him.....the dialogue felt out of place😕
Benji's new names for Nupur: "Morena Express" and "Nupurrrrrr"🤣
Nupur's nautanki-Part 1: Bored Nupur as she 'attempts' to study is distracted by her bangs and then proceeds to blow them out of her eyes🤣....LOVED Rati's expressions there!😆.....and then when she hears Gunjan approaching, instantly trying to look all engrossed and busy😆😆....I'm still wondering right now if that entire exchange with Gunjan in that scene was MEANT to lead upto Gunjan doing the work....Is Nupur really that sharp?😆😆.....Or it's just that she has a lifetime of experience in getting work out of her sister🤔😆😆.....The latter is confirmed when with a greatly affected air, Nupur goes, "Waiseee, main toh aaj bahut hi free thi, but agar tu karna chahti hai toh go ahead"😎😆😆
But later on, the not so selfish sisterly part of Nupur comes to the fore as she tries to cheer her sister up with her 'tension nahin lene ka' dialogue😆
Sam and Benji's exchange:
B: Hum kiska intezaar kar rahein hain?
S: *in smug tone* Nupur ka
B: *confused* Nupur ka??? Lekin kal tak toh hum Gunjan ka intezaar karte the🤣🤣🤣 LOVE Benji's comic timing!
Nupur's "Don't mess with me" avatar: LOVED it!!😆😆 I'm just amazed at the transformation that occurs in Nupur everytime she feels some harm might come to Gunjan....then out comes the protective older sister who is surprisingly rational and lucid compared to the usual Nautanki Nupur😆....LOVED the punch she showed to Samrat😈🤣....and Benji's reaction to it when she turns around to face him🤣
Benji's overacting as S and B try to convince N: "Chal is duniya se kahin door chalte hain" *gives reproachful look to N* "Bechari Gunjan!" *turns dramatically and leaves😆😆
Nupur's nautanki-Part 2: The scene where N tries to convince G to sing basically clinched the title for Nups😆😆....First, she tries to sweet talk G into it "Meri pyari behen, kitne din ho gaye teri aawaaz sune huye" and when that tactic doesn't work....cut to pulling out the big guns!😎....Nupur switches to hurt and reproachful sister mode, "Agar yeh baat kisi aur ne kahi hoti toh tu jhat se maan jaati" 😆😆
And then the ULTIMATE nautanki dialogue: "Tujhe yaad hai, sabse pehle maine Madhuri ka ek do teen wala dance tujhe dikhaya tha"🤣🤣🤣 And the image of Nupur doing Sridevi waala Naagin dance is just KILLING me🤣🤣 Imagine if she did that on the show....in front of Mayank!😲🤣 Pure Gold!🤣
Narcissit Nupur: "Aakhir tu meri behen hai, toh talent toh TUJH mein bhi hoga"😆😆.....God, kamaal hai sacchin! I love her irrerverence!😆😆
The little moment in the end when Nups hugs Gunjan: Really sweet! Showed the bond b/w the two sisters
Things that left me😕😕:
--Sammy's red belt😕😆
--Samrat back to his DSU (Dia suck-up) avatar🤢🤢 Ugghh! Barf-inducing to say the least! What was UP with all those dumb lines about 'jab tum hasti ho toh is sheher ki sab se sundar ladki lagti ho'😕😕
--Sammy's 'Samrat ka magic' lines....*rolls eyes*....Lame to say the least😆😆....I really *fervently* wish they didn't give him dialogues like this! Why not more like the bike scene waale dialogues???
--Dia and and her annoying cronies.....BORING!😆
Random thing I noticed: In one of Dia's scenes with her cronies, in the bg, Uday puts on a random tribal mask thing and starts doing the 'walk like an egyptian' move🤣🤣
General thought bothering me: Why exactly does Sammy call Dia 'Candy'???🤔😕😕
Overall, a decent epi, despite the lack of any real 'couple' scenes of either couple.
