Lata-Usha sing together after 32 years |
Versatile singer Usha Bhosle's desire to sing once again with elder Lata Mangeshkar has finally come true. At 79, Lata Mangeshkar has defied all rules of ageing by recording Sai Baba bhajans with her 73-year old sister Usha Mangeshkar.
The album has been put together by Lata's porteege Mayuresh Pai who earlier tuned and recorded the poetry of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the nightingale's voice. Says Lata ,"These are traditional Sai Baba bhajans, which Mayuresh has re-arranged. Usha and I have sung together after ages. I really can't recall when we last sang together. We've never recorded non-filmy songs together."
The last song that brought them together was entitled Bahi Jaiyo Na Rani Bhai Jayo Na in 1976 for Sabse Bada Rupaiya composed by Basu Manohari."Its always a pleasure to work with one of my siblings whether its Asha or Usha," She says
