Are star kids paying the price for their celebrity parents?

Close on the heels of the Union health ministry, requesting Bollywood stars, not to drink and smoke onscreen, we have been bombarded with the news of star kids being arrested for drug abuse, after a party raid, at a Bombay night club last night.

I thought, it's our screen heroes, who set an example, and influence the public at large. However, I am appalled to see, how time and again, either the same on-screen heroes, or their kids, have turned out to be off-screen villains.

Still fresh, in our memory, is Fardeen Khan. Even his distinguished family background, could do nothing to stop him from taking to cocaine. With the kind of debonair image one has seen of Feroze Khan, did beta Khan think it would be cool to emulate his larger than life dad off-screen?

Are on-screen sitaras, so consumed by their reel-life avatars, that they forget to inculcate basic values in their children, or do they think that acts of triumphing over evil, gives them the right to conquer law off-screen as well?

Shakti Kapoor is one man, I think, who never fails to re-enact his reel-life stunts into real-life disaster. First, it was the infamous casting couch controversy, wherein he was caught red-handed, on national television, making an indecent proposal to a young female journalist, during a sting operation.

The nation was yet to recover from the shock of this disgraceful act, when this time, it is the Jr Kapoor, his son Siddhant , who has made news for being detained after a raid at a rave party. Didn't papa's past record serve as a learning tool? Surely, Papa Kapoor is not ignorant of his son's substance abuse habit?

Didn't Nargis and Sunil Dutt raise hell to get their son Sanju baba admitted and reformed in a rehab centre?

Along with Siddhant, two other star kids who have been arrested are Aditya Panscholi's teenage son Suraj and daughter Sana. As we all know, this man has always been notorious for his philandering ways and extra-marital affairs with women half his age. However, does all that devour so much of his time, that he even ignored to instill some good values in his impressionable children.

Even Prateik Babbar is said to have left the night club, minutes before the raid was conducted. Had it not been for that, probably another star kid would have been in the news for wrong reasons.

Seems they are paying for the sins of the father.

While it's a very common phenomenon, that youngsters, or society at large, very often look upon film stars as their role models. So much so that in many parts of the country, they are virtually given the status of God.

While they receive, so much fame and adulation from society, I wonder, isn't it their fundamental responsibility, to behave in a responsible manner? Aren't they a wee bit accountable for their acts? Is it asking for too much?

Of course the parents are responsible people who cannot raise a kid and be a role model to it should not have them...
