Ok after reading Manai's post on families I immediately remembered my trip to India and the way the youngsters treated me.š³
Now a days in Punjab the youngsters are really being taught how to respect their elders, I am a Pua (aunt) and Didi of about 10 kids and last year I went to India after a gap of 8 years and was so surprised at how my nieces/nephews and brothers respected the elders including me. All my nephews and younger brothers actually touched my feet when they met me because I was older, I thought it was the sweetest thing! And they speak with such respect I was so shocked yaar and thought how sweet our culture is.
I work with a girl who is in her 40's(of course gori) and has 2 nieces and I was so shocked today when she told me her nieces call her by her name I was like what my nieces/nephews never do that it's always Pua ji or massi ji.
I simply adore that about our culture and it really melts my heart whenever my younger cousin (who was like literally born in my hands) calls and says "Didi matha tek daan" it's a different story that I don't know how to give aashirwaad yetš
Actually I asked a cousin bro of mine (who is a year older) that why does he always say "Paen Matha tek daan" to me and he so sweetly replied "because Kake the blessings of a sister whether younger or older are like that of a mother"š³
So tell me guys any massi's, didi's, or pua's who have gone through this??š
