Rekha looked simply ravishing as she was honoured by the IMPPA at the Hotel Time and Again for her contribution to Bollywood. Her timeless beauty has left many a male heart thumping longingly over the years. She seemed pleased to receive the award from the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association: "I always held my producers in high esteem and so I consider the IMPPA award as the most esteemed one I have ever received," she said.
Rekha has appeared in numerous first-class movies, winning the Best Actress Award for the simply staggering Khoon Bhari Maang (oh boy - you must see this movie!). One critic wrote of her staggering dual performance in the movie, "Rekha as Aarti is just flawless and this is one of her best performance ever! In the first half as the shy and not so sexy Aarti she is excellent and after the plastic surgery as the model and femme fatale she is excellent too. Some scenes show that we are watching an actress of a very high calibre here."
She also won a National Film Award for Umrao Jaan. In addition, one of her most interesting films was Silsila, opposite Amitabh Bachchan. She played the love interest and his real-life wife Jaya Bachchan played his wife in the movie. This was rumoured to be pretty much the situation in real life too. This was her last film with Amitabh. As her career progressed, she took to more alternative movies including Mira Nair's Kama Sutra.
