Okay guys, here's a topic I've always debated about...I hope I don't come out to sound too much like a buddhi autie when im only 21 but here's the deal:

so recently if you see the movies these days, its hard to go out without one having atleast one item number and some sort of seduction scene... I mean, Its pretty chill and all, but I compare it to what our industry was before in the black in white days wehre an item number would go far as a caberet number but nowadays our 'jal jal ke dhuan' and other showings leave me uncomfortable to even watch with my family! I feel so embarresd with my mom and dad sitting there while some heroine strips out her clothes 'besharmly' ... I know its a bit old thinking to have the nice movies where mearely hand touching was a form of love but now you see all the sleeping around and makes me wonder how "cheap" our movies are getting

First of all you are not sounding like a buddhi! I'm 24 and don't really like certain things that we get to see in Bollywood films these days either. Romance is an integral part of Bollywood and I don't have any issues with that. I like romantic films. However there is a difference between romance and vulgarity. I also think certain things are ok if it is needed for the story. If it's required and fits in with what's going on in the film- that's fine. But I don't understand why some films have kisses or seduction scenes out of the blue...when it's not even needed. That looks cheap. Not only does it look odd, it's also obvious that such scenes have been added to attract an audience. Also, the way certain scenes are shot make it even worse! There is a certain way a director should handle such scenes.

I agree with you am too only 22 but some of the movies its abit like omg some movies are fine but some just have kissing and seduction etc and short clothes for absolute no reason...it is stupid. May rajshri rock on for a while lol vivah proves that people still want to watch family films and not the other rubbish...like in race it suited the mood of the film etc which was ok and even in BAH it was not too over the top but then theres films that completly stupid like neel and nikki being one cannot think of others because i avoid them usually include rubbish actors to while at it.

Exactly!! I completely agree! There is nothing wrong with showing intimacy in relationships etc. etc....but they are always shot in a cheap, sleazy way....kissing scenes in bollywood movies are more often than not awkward fumbling attempts which are hilarious and uncomfortable to watch at the same time. If they can't enact such scenes, why do them???? And the bigger problem ofcourse...most of the time the scenes aren't even required in a script but just thown in to attract a certain audience....and that's a pathetic mindset in my honest opinion.

I completely agree with you, and no you don't sound old fashion at all. It is really uncomfortable to watch it with your parents, those so called item songs, which just trun out to be a sleazy seductive number added to please a certain kind of target market. And the worst thing is they seem to appear out of thin air, without any need.

Gone are the days when a simple touch and glimpse was enough to show the romance, I mean its ok to show a kiss when needed, but like someone said that it has to be shot aesthetically, and not made to look cheap and vulgar, which is what they make it look like.

Some of the biggest hit movies have been romantic movies, and from what I can recall none had any such scenes which were in any way uncomfortable to watch with your whole family; be it Mughal-e-azam, Hum Aapke hain kaun, Maine pyar kiya, DDLJ, QSQT, DTPH to name but a few.

Well lets just hope that the directors learn something from the past.

wow, amazing response guys..and def. if you look at movies like:

Maine pyar kiya
hum aapke hain kaun
ddlj
kkhh
and even more recent: VIVAAH!!
and to go further, I absolutely loved the movie Gangster, its one of my favorite films! but when i sat down to show my mom i literally had to grab the remote when they had that "scene" and fast forward... its really hard just to sit there watch it...
i think its okay to experiment but not just to attract viewers... i mean anotehr example: dhoom 2..was it really neccessary for hrithik to kiss aish... ?? i think the movie was brilliant beyond that..
