I found an interesting article in Tribune Lifestyle on reality shows. The whole story can be found on http://www.tribuneindia.com/2008/20080919/ttlife1.htm. I have highlighted below the comments made by Mitika's mom criticizing the show. Is this why Mitika is out 'cause her Mom dared to speak out?!!

Reality, checked
Jigyasa Kapoor Chimra

Right to use

"These reality shows exploit kids and I suggest they should not participate in them. Especially kids below 16 years should not enter as there is too much of mental and physical stress," says Anujeet Kanwar, Principal, Govt model school-18, and mother of Mitika Kanwar, participant of Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Challenge-2008-09. Talk about the economics of the game and she says, "My daughter has been doing stage shows right left and center but there is no money for them. It's the channel and the producer who is minting money out on their name. And for her, we send the money."

wohh that's an interesting article ....Well , none of these channels tolerate what they call "high handedness" of parents ..hence Mitika had to pay the price ....Zee , Sony, Star do not tolerate when parents go to the press without their knowledge ....
Moreover Mitika's mom is a principal ..that's why she is soo outspoken ..but she should have known the repurcussions her outburst would create if she goes public with this info while her daughter is still in the show😲 ....
I mean ..we all know how these channels use these contestants for concerts and there is no time for rehearsals and all....
Bottomline ...these channels think they r doing a great favor to these 19, 20 something girls and boys , by giving them this platform ..which in future bring name , fame and money to them and their families, ..... they think otherwise the path would have been very difficult ......So if one takes their help to climb that "name and fame" ladder and later criticise their practise in public then u pay the price .....so either u send ur son or daughter to these reality shows and keep ur mouth shut or don't send them at all ..it's as simple as that ...😃
Anyway , my intuition was right ....I was thinking while looking at Mitika that she is too calm about being 1st. one to go out...well, she is talented so she will go far but her mom needs to do less talking if she wants her daughter to succeed in this industry😉...
Thanks for sharing...

Thanks. If this is the case then Public voting is a fake. But this is complaining against kids who are below the age of 16 being used in reality shows. I agree that there should be no eliminations for young kids but a sort of a point system to keep them on longer. They do not mind being no. 9 ot 10 so long as they are still around to perform on stage.
As for compensation Zee is starting to dish out some prizes to the contestants. Konjush Zee should be doing cash compensations as well for each level of competition.

I agree with your thinking- but is the whole process so transparent? I mean does ZEE tell these participants what they are in for, before selecting them, or signing the contract (if they actually do!) There are millions of budding singers who are ready to do anything for their moment in limelight.

But sometimes you get into the whole thing and then find out that you just can't take this exploitative attitude and refuse to deal with it any longer- is that what happened with Mitika? Maybe she wanted to get out of the whole thing as she had had enough of it!

Unless past participants or other eliminated ones actually speak out about the on goings and the murkiness inside- nobody will actually know!! I can imagine it would be really tough for a singer, trying to find a foothold in the film/ music industry, to take on bigwigs- mentors, producers etc. of these musical reality shows !

There may be many sections in the contract which parents sign without reading closely or thinking of the consequences. No use being wise after the event as in Mitika's case. Moreover,if this was the reason for her elimination it means that vote count is fake and a sham.I always wonder why anyone has not taken up the issue of transparency in vote counts.

seems like sour grapes to me, her parents knew about the way this game is played. If they didnt SRGMP or zee cannot be blamed for their stupidity. Every year there is one parent who is of this type, jis thali me khate hai😉

Ya ...why r the parents acting so naiive now???...just look at those who made it big after the show is over ..Aneek, Raja , ....they r soo humble ...so grateful to the channel for giving them this platform ...they probably had gone thru the same treatment but they know if Zee hadn't given this platform ..no matter what their classical knowledge is, how many years they would have practised ...they couldn't have been travelling all over the world in this festive season and earned in thousands of dollars and receive adulations of their fans!!!!!!!.....
Recently read an article of a very famous singer of present day , who is also judgeing a famous reality show at present ....I can't give u the link as it's the rival show but certainly can copy what he said at the end of the interview ......
"If there were such a platform available for me I wouldn't have to spend weeks sleeping on the Andheri station railway platform!" ...
I have no remorse for these parents or their sons and daughters who crib when things don't go their way.....
My 2 cents😛
