She has joined the show Sujata where she plays a vampish role wearing a typical traditional Gujju look. "It is a very different negative role with two shades. At one time I have to deliver sugar-coated dialogues and the next moment I'm all negative and angry. I have to portray a positive side to others, but inside I've got to be negative. Every second my facial expressions have to change and it's very difficult for me to portray the character and depict emotions at a fast pace but it's a challenge," says Mreenal, adding, "I love to play strong characters and in our soaps mostly negative characters are shown to be strong. The cry-baby roles don't suit me at all. I love to make others cry." On screen that is.
And since Sujata is a daily show and the track is right now focussing on Mreenal's character, the actress has been under a lot of stress due to the workload. "I am the first to come on the sets and the last to leave the sets. The past months have been very hectic. I'm out of touch with the whole world. I've got to learn pages and pages of dialogues. There's no time for gymming, no time for friends," she rues.
"The last time I went home to Nagpur I could stay there only for two days. I'm living in Mumbai alone now. I go home tired and can hardly manage sleeping for not more than five hours a day. I think it will take some time for my life to come back on track."
The actress has also acted in serials like Doli Sajaa ke and in episodic shows like Shhh...koi hai. So why hasn't she played any positive characters on screen? "I'm never offered positive roles in daily shows. The only time I've played positive roles is in episodics. Probably because I've carved a negative image for myself. People recognise me by my negative roles and I want to create the same impact with my role in Sujata too," she replies.
