For the first time i think Tanya ia a coward. Taking her own life is not the way.

I PROMISE YOU GUYS THAT I WILL RESIST THE URGE TO POST ON THIS TOPIC AFTER THE FOLLOWING 👏 :

Kripsy, I absolutely agree with your point on the trivial nature of Trish's problems vs. Tanya's rape. But you just cannot compare the two situations; you can compare the spirit of their action or inaction.

The Tanya character is absolutely NOT representative of ALL OR MOST victims. Yes, she is a victim and she hurts. But just look at the context of how things happened, including the wedding, her decision not to tell Trish or her other sisters and get their support. Tanya is a real character, albeit dramatized as Hindi serials often do.

So you know that I'm not full of sh*t, I have gone through a trauma twice, albeit not like Tanya's situation. Suffice it to say that it took me almost a year to get better and function again. I was in PTSD therapy to help me deal with the issues, and almost 3 years later, I am better. I sought out the help, because I knew something wrong cannot go on. I could not handle it.

So getting back to this, come on guys, I like critiquing these characters and it is insensitive many of the times. But look at it from my perspective as well. If I feel this way, then there are surely others who feel the same, RIGHT OR WRONG.

I am not a rape victim basher. I am a Tanya basher, because of her ongoing choices. Yes, it will take a lot of pain before things get better for her, but at some point it will. Women have it in themselves to save themselves emotionally or ask for help to do so.

I would like to leave some comments that talk about not watching the show. I've been in other forums, where the emotional temperature was high. And it's all good.

I could not resist this morsel--I've now gotten told by some that I can't wrap my head around "the reality in the show." Example, I say many times and get clobbered everytime I say that Tanya did not stop Yuv's decision to marry her. Yes, she can push him away, but it did not work. But, hey, unless he had a .35 caliber handgun to her head, there was a way out--you scream, you yell you do not want to marry, cover your part on your head with one hand (unless you've been tied up and gagged by Yuv), try to run away, do whatever it takes to stall the ceremony. I appreciate that Tanya tried, albeit in a somewhat feeble way. But sometimes, trying is not enough.

Finally, on family shaping emotions. I have a huge family that I respect and love. I believe you help each other in a family. But noone, like Kul, can make you stop talking, especially when something is not right and/or you are hurting. At some point everyone needs help in a situation. And you have to tap into that for yourself and your familial relationships. This is a cornerstone of my belief system--respect and love for family and friends, and never shying away from a conversation or just being around someone who may understand, and of course, personal responsibility. Honor, self-sacrifice are great things. grand words. But how does one have honor--innate, situational? What do they have to do in order for it to qualify as "honorable" in the eyes of our individual worlds? One man's honorable is another man's insensitivity.

And yes, from someone else's response, I know the world is not nice or fair. It will leave you in the dust and squeeze the life out of people. But you cannot deny that there is a lot of good out there: people who sacrifice their personal time to help people like me, kids who grow their hair and cut it so cancer victims can have wigs with natural hair, people who stop to help you get back on the right road or change your tires. What one thing describes all of these trivial or great things? SELFLESS ACTS, NOT JUST THOUGHTS AND INTENTIONS. Honor, when it is defined as helping someone who is suffering, is not ALWAYS honor. The more appropriate terms are acts of kindness and humanity. I probably can't understand Yuv because of my belief about personal responsibility. In some's eyes, what he did was honorable and that is fine. In my eyes, he convoluted and confused things and did not get the end result--people's shared welfare.

Regardless of whether you're talking about a tv character or people in real life, rape is a serious issue and shouldn't be trivialised. It is used way too often as a storyline but i think this is the only time an indian show is trying to represent the victim accurately. So instead of criticising the character's vulnerability, the portrayal should be appaluded.

Moreover, Yuv and Kul are NOT what you would call support for Tanya. He is still hung over his ex and too busy fixing his best friend's marriage problems to even concentrate on his WIFE! And Kuljet has NO IDEA how to handle such a situation which is why she stopped Tanya from telling her sisters who would have been the best support for her during this time!!! It seems like Kul feels that if it isn't mentioned, it never happend which is not the best thing in such situations.

TANYA DID NOT ASK YUV TO MARRY HER AND IF YOU RECALL THE INSTANCE WHERE HE PUT SINDOOR ON HER HEAD SHE WAS NOT GIVEN A CHANCE TO STOP HIM. She did try afterwards but to no avail. What do you expect? That while she comes to grips with whats happening to her she should spend more time focusing on the "injustice" done to her sister!
C'MON YOU'VE GOTTA ADMIT COMPARED TO TANIA'S SITUATION TRISHNA'S LOST LOVE SEEMS SOOOO TRIVIAL!!!!!!!
