Opti Akka, I don't know about other South Indian languages, but there are several Kannada soaps (except for one or two meaningful shows) that suck in a similar way. Many elderly women in my family suffer with those serials raising their BPs.

They may raise their BPs, Shubs but are they as illogical as K-serials where partner swapping, illegimate children, ONSes and divorces are the order of the day? We are supposed to be thankful to Sandy for keeping OCD out even though this is a K- serial but what is in store for us does not look very appealing either.

I used to watch that a long long time ago. My MIL still watches it. Although it started off well I think it has got into a rut now. Seriously I think any show which goes on for more than a year is bound to suffer at some point as there is only so much logical ideas around to keep the viewers glued. There was this show "Metti Oli" which was very good. K.Balachander's shows were also good. I especially liked "Kai Allavu Manasu" and "Jannal". The short story series directed by Revati and by Balu Mahendra were also very good. Nowadays I have no clue what is being shown in the Tamil channels.

South zone is never in the picture because most people there are not avid watchers of hindi serials. So there are the Shahs to represent the west zone, the Shergills to represent the north and the Dasguptas to represent the east. Wish they will show as much thoughtfulness in penning a believable story.

I'm also from south india and i do watch this serial from the begining

Kalai, you are in the minority. If you are lucky and they want Prachi to display how south indians wear the saree they may get her into an Iyer family.

Hmmm I haven't followed any Kannada serial so far.. but I guess they won't be as bad as K-serials..
