From a beti to a bhoot, Reena Kapoor in an exclusive tte--tte by Vidhya Krishnan Aug 29, 2008, Bangalore |
Reena Kapoor whose claim to fame is Woh rehne waali mehlon ki, is now essaying the lead role of Sheetal in Shh.. Phir Koi Hai on Star One.
The story revolves around the lead who has a happy family life with her professor husband Kunal, and daughter Megha till they come to a new city where he has a project to do. And the whispers begin; someone is trying to reach her, to tell her something. Who is this troubled ghost woman? What is it that she wants from her? Sheetal in her attempts to help, and make the whispers stop, would 'unearth' a past that'll change her relationships forever.
In an excusive tte--tte with Vidhya Krishna, Reena Kapoor talks about her role in the thriller and more…
My role… Shh…Phir Koi Hai is somewhat similar in fashion with the movie 'Something lies beneath'. My character is interesting because it is a thriller most of all. I play the lead in the story, a woman called Sheetal who is happily married. She is haunted by this woman, the ghost, who gives her clues about her husband who is pretending to be innocent. Eventually the truth gets unveiled and Sheetal gets to know that her husband had killed this woman.
I got it... From a long time Jannet wanted me to play this role and because of date issues I was unable to take it up. But when she got to know that I had some dates, she immediately got in touch with me and I grabbed it. I was only apprehensive because of the night shoots but she convinced me and I agreed.
The challenging bit… The only hiccup is that since it is a horror show, we had to shoot mostly late in the night. It is very difficult to shoot for thrillers because you need to portray scared expressions most of the time which is not so easy and gets you stressful. And the worst part is that the location for such shows has to be horrible for it to look natural. And that makes me really uncomfortable. It is not fun…trust me.
Preparations for the role… The gap between my previous project and Shh.. Phir Koi Hai was too less for me to do any homework. All my work is done at the shooting |
Daily soaps vis--vis Reality shows…
Initially the reality shows were good but they have become like daily soaps now. It used to be fun but we have had too much of it. I have been a part of a dance reality show called Saas-bahu, I found it mentally exhausting because I am not that good with dancing. There is this pressure to perform on stage and look real and comfortable which is very taxing.
On TV, I watch…
I like watching anything that connects you to nature. I mostly watch Animal planet and National Geographic channel.
