Cooroy Botanical Gardens By Didi Max

I recently visited a small town called Cooroy just 43km south of Gympie in Queensland. The highlight of my visit to this quiet little village-like town was my time spent at their beautiful Botanical Gardens.

The Gardens are just 3km out of the town on the banks of Lake McKenzie. What a beautiful variety of plants, and in the most picturesque setting looking over the lake.

There is an ornate amphitheatre that one can only marvel at. The garden paths meander up the gentle slopes over trickling streams and through lush rainforest areas.

Even for the non-gardener this area is a delight in taking us back to nature. You could drive past these gardens and not even realise the beauty that lies within.

I highly recommend stopping in here, bring your morning tea and enjoy the amply provided picnic tables and escape into the Garden of Eden

Hello

Whitsunday Wonders by DeMonica

At some point in your life someone will tell you that you are about to see a sight that will change your world. Of course you'll disbelieve them. How can a single sight change the way you view the world, you'll ask yourself.

On a sunny day in June 2002, our bus driver told us these very words, and I scoffed. And then as we crested the rise, overlooking the harbour at Airlie Beach, heart of the Whitsundays, I realised that not only was this driver 100% right, but that I had finally found a place I could call home. The glistening blue waters and the gently bobbing boats called to me. This was truly paradise on earth and I would forever more remember every single detail of the 9 days we spent there. From waking in the morning, overlooking the sea, to walking the town at night dressed in shorts and a t-shirt, in the middle of winter.

The Whitsundays would have to be the most beautiful place in Queensland to sit and stay a while. There was snorkelling in crystal clear water, surrounded by brightly coloured fish. Also travelling out to the Great Barrier Reef and experiencing this amazing natural formation that can be seen from space, millions of years old and teaming with more fish. And then stargazing as you return from a seafood feast on South Molle Island, the stars so bright you can reach out and touch them, or so it seems.

The food, the travel, the experience that is Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays must be experienced for all who seek the tropical life. I can guarantee that you'll come back changed forever after.

Hello

Norfolk Island by Sharkette

For those who want a quiet, relaxing holiday, then Norfolk Island is the destination for you.

The beauty of the island is truly captivating. Hire a car and travel around the island at your own pace, or take one of the many tours on offer, such as a historic island tour, which includes a visit to Kingston. This tour interprets the ruins and Georgian style buildings. It covers the first and second settlements of both convicts and military.

Take a tour of the historic cemetery, where you will see the graves of Fletcher Christian and all his descendants from the famous "Mutiny on the Bounty". Other tours include a progressive dinner, sight & sound show, bushwalking tours, just to name a few. You can also see where the rich & famous live, with stars like Colleen McCullough who reside there.

If you do choose to hire a car, just a tip: beware of the cows! They have right of way on the roads! Also, if you choose to go out walking at night, do take a torch, as there are no streetlights.

The food and shopping on Norfolk is fantastic and I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Everything is so laid back on Norfolk, that the definition of a traffic jam is 4 cars on the road at any one time. The speed limit on Norfolk's roads is 40 kph.

So for a totally relaxing holiday in a picturesque environment, you can't go past Norfolk Island.
