Vishal Singh, the name till date brings back the memories of Dekh Bhai Dekh's (DBD) Sanju, as the young guy who hopped around in shorts calling out to his €˜Sahil Chachu€™ in desperation. But while he came across as one of those promising faces who had the potential to reach the stature of the Bajajs and the Mihirs of television, things just didn€™t fall in place. He explains why. €œDBD happened when I was young... and I am quite like the character in my latest tele-serial, Aathvan Vachchan- Aadesh - doing things in right balance. Neither too much nor too less. And I consciously look for balance in life to avoid getting grinded in the churn and demanding schedules.€ He was there in times of no saas-bahus or reality shows. So, how does he feel about the current situation of TV today? €œSince I have been away for a long time, I am not in a position to comment. But visibly we can notice glamour perpetrating in and there is demand not only for acting skills but also the X-factor. A lot of cut-throat competition has crept in.€ Though television world has become more challenging with demanding working hours, it has one benefit over Bollywood, €œThat our characters are very real, people identify with them. There is nothing larger than life in tele-serials. Everything revolves around emotion because of which people connect more with it.€ Vishal who doesn€™t believe in depriving himself of breathing space, spends time with family and friends besides finding time for surfing the television. And then he settles for good shows and expresses, €œThere is dearth of good comedies. And because there is no demand of good comedies, not many are made. Audiences have to demand first, and then there€™ll be a supply for them. I still believe Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi was cult comedy.€ Having worked with people of name and talent, Vishal admires, €œShekhar Suman the most, because it was he who taught me that everybody in the team is important. It is the team that makes it!€ A good thought, Vishal! |
