Okay, just finished watching the Premeer scene from today...It was the only part I watched, so its the only part I"ll be commenting on...
Anyway, Here's my two cents:
"Ya Rabba, dede koi jaan bhi agar, dilbar pe ho na...koi asar"
Hurt, Angry, and Lonely. Hurt, because his sister hid the truth from him. Hurt, because his Heer hid the whole truth from him, didn't trust him. Angry, because he himself didn't believe his Heer. Lonely, because the two people that he trusted, to come to him with their problems, had failed him today.
The Prem stood there, fighting an inner battle, cursing himself for not being able to prevent the events that had just transpired.
Heer comes to him then, to lend her support...as she always has...as is the way with these two - always there for one another, to share in each other's pain. She can read him like a book; knows his sorrow and the cause of it. As she walks up to him then, his back to her, she can already anticipate his tears. Her predictions confirmed, she slowly, gently inches her hand towards his...a simple gesture of support.
He pulls back then, turning away from her...the deep pain caused by her actions not allowing him to accept her comforting touch; His anger at his own mistrust not allowing him to so much as look in her direction.
His intent not lost on her, she voices her fears..."mujhse naraz ho?"
He retorts, his answer confusing her: "haan, naraz hoon, lekin tumse nahi...apne aap se."
She thinks "mad at yourself for what? the mistake was mine."...."Kyoun, Prem?"
He looks at her then, with a bit of accusation - that was really aimed at himself, and not her...and simply responds, with a cold, "Sorry" - again the coldness of it only due to his anger that was directed inwardly. He softens as he clarifies the reason for his apology, the reason for his anger - "I didn't trust you...didn't understand you"
She places her hand on his shoulder then...unable to see him in such turmoil...unable to see him blaming himself. She attempts to comfort him then, in the way she knows how: by admitting her own mistake...by asking him, to forgive her, instead.
In her confession, she admits to having seen Veera with Rishab...it dawns on him then...she knew, and hid the truth from him...she knew, and didn't find it necessary to tell him - she didn't trust that he would trust her...her ultimate reason for concealing the truth wasn't lost on him either...she knew the truth would hurt him...
She went on, making excuses for retaining the truth, and he cut her off.....Her revelation, her untold reasons for withholding the truth stung...angered and hurt him further...
How could she not trust that he would believe her? How could she not have faith in him?
"Maine bhi socha Heer...pata hai kya? Main is baat pe gussa nahi hoon ki tumne mujhe puri baat nahi batai...main is baat ka zyada dard hai, ki tumhe vishwas nahi tha ki main tumhari baat manounga...samjhounga."
Her waivering faith in their relationship, her distrust in him had hurt him more than her half-truths.
As he voices her reservations, she realizes her mistakes...realizes that she's failed him.
He moves away from her then, finally admitting his anger towards her. Finally admitting that she hurt him, by thinking that he would weigh his relationship with his sister over his relationship with her.
His words come as a cold truth to her then...as she realized the gravity of her mistake and the intensity of his pain. She'd misunderstood him severely.
He collapses under the weight of his pain...and she goes down with him. His pain, his tears too much for her to bare...pain, that she caused...tears, that she could have prevented.
His thoughts turn to his sister now...the little sister that used to come to him with every problem, small or large, every happiness...the sister that he'd held in such high regard, cared so very much for...the sister that today, re-payed him by turning him into a stranger...
Heer understood his hurt then...understood his frustration...her Prem was the caretaker of his family...the one that solved all their problems, kept them from harm...her Prem had failed in his role today, and therefore, failed himself. She understood that...and understood herself to be the cause...she tries to comfort him then...slowly reaches out to him, holds his hand...as his accusation comes harshly towards her: "Tumne bhi vahi kiya Heer..." - You're no different.
He stands then, attempting to remove himself from her, as she clasps his hand more tightly, stopping him in his tracks.
As she comes to face him, he finds it necessary to clarify to her, that for him, their family comes first...even before him. THEIR family. His AND Hers. He goes further to say that he wants them both, to be a part of the family. He understands her so well. She did what she did to prevent his pain, but by the same measure, declared herself an outsider when it came to His Family. He clarified to her then, as the tears rolled down his face, that she was no outsider, but just as much a part of the family as he was...so henceforth, she too, should put the family, THEIR Family...HER Family, before all else. The truth of his words hit her then, as the gravity of her mistakes sets in...her own tears begin to flow.
He reminds her then, that the basis of true love is undying faith and trust. He reminds her then, that she allowed her faith in him, her trust in him to falter.
Unable to take the guilt any longer, she takes his hand in hers, and apologizes again, as the pain of having hurt him tears her apart.
Unable to bare her pain, he takes her hands in his, and reciprocates the apology.
As they both vow never to mistrust one another again, he takes her into his arms, comforting her, and himself...
The moon shines down on the purity of their love, as the doves testify to the depth of it.
This was, by far, the most touching testament to the value of trust in a relationship that I have ever seen. It is also the first time I have seen two people know and understand one another so deeply. It was, absolutely, breathtakingly, heartbreakingly...beautiful.
I was hoping Premeer would have an adult conversation and talk out the misunderstandings. I'm over the moon that it happened as such.
I think a Thank You is in oder to the creatives here, for keeping Prem's character in tact.
The Prem, will never, ever falter.
LOVE,
~Payal~
