I think females have a better voice than males generally.
Just look at the top Indian singers.
Male singers Female singers
Muhammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar and Mukesh Lata and Asha
Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu and Sonu Nigam Alka and Sunidhi
Shaan, KK and Sukhi Shreya
Overall females are better singers and they have better voices too. Then I don't know why females don't get as many votes as males in music competitions like saregamapa, star voice of india, etc.
