Warner Bros sues over 'Hari Puttar' movie

Warner Bros. has filed a lawsuit against an Indian film studio which plans to release a movie entitled Hari Puttar - A Comedy of Terrors.

The movie giant will argue that Puttar infringes on the copyright of the Harry Potter film series when the case is heard at the Bombay High Court today.

Hari Puttar, produced by Mirchi Movies, centres around a 10-year-old Indian boy who moves to the UK. It is currently scheduled to be released on September 12.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson confirmed: "We have recently commenced proceedings against parties involved in the production and distribution of a movie entitled Hari Puttar.

"Warner Bros. values and protects intellectual property rights. However, it is our policy not to discuss publicly the details of any ongoing litigation."

Mirchi Movies CEO Munish Purii said: "Since the case is sub-judice, we can't comment as of now. However, we registered the Hari Puttar title in 2005, and it's unfortunate that Warner has chosen to file a case so close to our film's release.

ok...that was weird. the WB are seriously, majorly tweaking this year. i mean, first the HP6 movie move, and now this. I hope people boycott the 6th movie. that'll show them.

This just makes me wanna laugh!...Warner Bros are super duper quick when it comes to picking up stuff like this! They are bound to intervene, and I would agree with them totally...
