Our telly gods bring down dahi handis

Aug 25, 2008, Mumbai

It was raining Shri Krishna's across Mumbai. And this time, our mythologies, which are spread across the channels took to the spirit of the festival which celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna and got into the masti of the festival.

On the ocaasion of Janmashatami, Krishna Bhatia, who plays little Krishna in the show 'Jai Shri Krisha' on Colors was spotted on Sunday morning, Aug. 24, 2008 breaking the dahi handi at Jambori Maidan, Worli Naka, Worli." Ajit Andhare - CEO of Colosceum Media P. Ltd -- Co- producer of Jai Shri Krishna serial on Colours channel quoted, "I celebrate the spirit of the festival. Jai Shri Krishna has been a story told with the traditional honesty and simplicity that makes mythology connect truly with masses."

On the other side, Ekta Kapoor's magnum opus Kahani Hamari Mahabharat Ki saw her unveiling Mrunal Jain who would play the part of Lord Krishna. In the first ever media interaction after the launch of their epic mythology showcase, the channel unveiled Mrunal Jain climbing the human pyramid and breaking the 'dahi handi'. Dressed in a white kurta with a churidar, her trademark red 'tikka' in place, a sombre looking Ekta did look a tad bit under the weather...was it fear for her Krishna climbing up the pyramid for the dahi handi or otherwise was something we threw our hands up for speculation.

Bigg Boss, a reality show got into the spirit of the festival. Rahul Mahajan wore his crown as Krishna and nominated hot item queen, Payal Rohatgi as his Radha...leaving us to again speculate if the chemistry is indeed sizzling between the just divorced out in the field Rahul and Payal.
