Gimme 5! Crores that is

India:

Paisa Bolta Hai: Amit Kumar, Leena Chandavarkar and Kishore Kumar

Kishore Kumar would have been pleased at the deal his wife Leena Chandavarkar struck with UTV to produce a film based on his life.

It's a partnership deal struck with UTV and Kishore Kumar's family: Leena, Amit Kumar and Sumit, where the profits will be shared along with the producer. Not just that, Kishore's family have sold the story rights for Rs 5 crore to UTV.

Initially Percept was to produce the film and Nagesh Kukunoor was to direct it but now UTV is producing it and Shoojit Sarkar will be directing it.

Anjaane pehlu

UTV's Ram Mirchandani says they can't talk about it till the deal is signed. But Leena admits, "Yes UTV has bought the rights. Percept was never to produce the film nor was Nagesh to direct. Percept announced the film without asking us. It was always Shoojit's idea to make a film on my husband. Shoojit Sarkar is a good director and close family friend." Rensel D' Silva is writing the script.

Talking about the biopic on Kishore, Leena says, "My husband was a flamboyant star who led an extremely colorful life and the film will be as true to life as possible without hurting anyone's sentiments as lot of people including his ex-wives like Ruma Guha Thakurta and Yogita Bali are still alive.

The film will show my husband as a singer, actor, father and husband joh pehlu kisi ne dekha ya pata hai. The story has an emotionally moving end the audience will come out crying. Yesterday was his 21st death anniversary. He would have been 79 years old today."

i guess only Sonu and shaan can come upto 50% of kishore da's popularity
Sonu belongs more to Rafi classical singing type
shaan sings a bit like Kishore himself- but still has long way to go
But the ones in the 90's like Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu and Abhijeet failed misreably to achieve that level of fan following
