Prem and Heer's marriage was decided when they were kids, and Lalit's family had to move to Canada, just like in KDMHMD. Except in here Balraaj is the one who insisted on Lalit to move to Canada, but he told him that he would come back to fulfill his promise. The two families always kept in touch, and there relationship had grown even when they were miles apart.
Daljeet never approved of Prem and Heer's marriage. She wanted Heer to get married to her sister's son Manmeet. One reason was probably because Heer had millions of dollars in her name. She wanted to break Prem and Heer's marriage, and she wasn't the only one. Ever since Manmeet had seen Heer, he wanted her too, and would stoop to any level to get her.
Balraaj hated Daljeet with all his guts. He knew she was a selfish, greedy, and wicked woman. He never wanted his brother, Balwant, to get married her. He tried hard to stop it too, but Balwant was blind in her love, he never saw anything but her. When she came in the house, something happened that Balraaj always expected. Balwant took his share of the money, which wasn't much, and moved into another house. But he would come every month or so asking for money. Balraaj being the older one could never say no.
