Ajay Devgan injured his back severely while performing a stunt for Kumar Mangat and Eros International's Toonpur Ka Superhero.
Reportedly, Ajay who already had a stiff back, performed this highly taxing stunt after five years - he last did an action-role in Harry Baweja's Qayamat in 2003. Since it was a frontal shot, the stunt had to be performed by Ajay himself rather than a stuntman.
Our source revealed, "Since Ajay already had a stiff back, he was in two minds about doing the stunt. He knew that the impact of it would be on his back. However, he did not want to delay the shoot any further as it was already stalled for five days because of his mother's illness. So he went ahead with it."
Ajay's office confirmed that excessive strapping had a strain on Ajay's back. The spokesperson said, "Too much of harness has taken a toll on Ajay's back. On Thursday evening, the shot for Toonpur Ka Superhero required him to be strapped up.
At the push of a button, which was hydraulically powered, Ajay was thrown off to a height of around 25 feet above ground level. The stunt was required to portray a scene in this animated film, wherein Ajay is blown up by the villain from the toon world. Right now Ajay is recuperating at home, but will be back in action very soon!"
