SISTER ACT: Surbhi Tiwari plays Abha in Kumkum

The vicious Abhay Chauhan, (Aman Varma) of the afternoon soap Kumkum — Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan, has found some new company in the form of sister Abha (Surbhi Tiwari) to take on Kumkum (Juhi Parmar).

The daily, aired on Star Plus, will see the introduction of the new character of Abha from Monday's episode.

"Abha will make a sudden entry. She arrives from Kanpur to meet her brother. In a tearing hurry, she will be shown as being saved by Kumkum in a road mishap," says Anurradha Prasad of BAG Films, the producers of the show.

"Initially, Abhay will influence her totally and she will soon develop an aversion for Kumkum. But once she sees through what her brother is up to, Abha is shocked. She decides to start life on her own in Mumbai and becomes Kumkum's close pal," says Prasad.

Tiwari, who has begun shooting for the soap, points out that the character of Abha is of a "strong woman who trusts her brother completely till she sees through his game plan against Kumkum."

While on her way to destroy Kumkum, she is shattered by some revelations and then her character undergoes a change. "Abha does the sister stuff for Abhay.

She develops a hatred for Kumkum because of Abhay," says Varma of his negative track in Kumkum.

"The show has this brother-sister track at the moment," adds Varma who, post Indian Idol, is looking forward to more acting assignments.

Who is Surbhi Tiwari?

• Played the main protagonist Aradhana in the afternoon soap Shagun (Star Plus) which is now off-air
• Is seen as Juhi in Ruby Duby Hub Dub (SaharaOne)
• Also featured in the serial Shikwa and anchored Andaz Style Bollywood, both on DD1

The Kumkum saga

After over two years and 500 episodes, Kumkum revolves around the Wadhwa family and their relationships. Kumkum, played by Juhi Parmar, and husband Sumeet (Hussain) struggle to hold the family together.

Abhay Chauhan (Aman Verma) believes that Kumkum is his fianc Chanda and wreaks havoc on the Wadhwas.

OMG....from where the hell she came....abhey didn't tell anything about her even when he was telling his story..........What is this hell....why BAG is not allowing to leave Kumkum and Sumit happy....why is all these tension....
