JJWS was Farah Khan's concept(as shown in th AV during the finale). Farah Khan was looking for great performers who could charm the crowd and who also happen to be good singers. I feel this show was tailor made for contestants like Rahul, Abhijit, Debojit, Toshi, Aishwariya and to some extent Neha Kakkar. Do you think some of the contestants would have been better off if they did not participate.

That AV was just as bogus as everything else in the show. It could have been more honest simply to have had Farah claim this in an "interview" or "talking head" segment, but an obvious re-enactment far short of cinema verite was typical Bollywood B-movie ham-handedness, so disastrously fake that the audience was effectively being challenged to suspend their disbelief. Which, of course, it seems they did. Sigh.

I agree AV may just be bogus and the show may have been fixed.

Not withstanding, How they showed the origin of the concept of the program weither by AV or via interview but the fact remains some body thought of an idea. There was a similar program on Sony "Ustadon ke Ustad" just before JJWS. Host of Ustadon ke Ustad was Farah Khan's brother.May be some connection with Farah being the originator of this idea.

But my concern is that producer can make a programs for just few singers in mind and take every body else for a ride. Some contestants may have been better off not participating in this program. I think eventually contestants will be getting smart and they will participate only if they feel they would not be taken for a ride.

Look at the thread "they thought we were too dum(sic)". There's a systemic reason for this.

I think the high point of the show was Sonu's parting comments. He encouraged the singers to think about careers outside playback singing. The Bollywood aesthetic has to be challenged and put in its place so that it doesn't stifle the quality of popular music in India. Right on, Sonu! Reality shows will also be the better for this, if they aren't ruled by idiotic Bollywood sensibilities, where any kind of condescending crap "chalta hai".

Mdiwakar, Thanks for reminding about some of these contestants. Good lists for JJWS and not for it.
