Aditya's fitness mantra!
by Vidhya Krishnan
Jul 12, 2008, Bangalore

Aditya Narayan, is no more a kid around the block. But, the Sa re Ga Ma Pa anchor has grown up and is rather taking his career a bit too seriously. The lad is following a special diet these days and is quite religious at it even during the rigorous shooting schedules. The onlookers on the sets claim that he munches on something only every three hours and absolutely nothing in between that. Not even water. And no matter how tempting an eatable is kept around him he would not even eye it. Also, his dietician recommends a minimum of 8 hours of sleep. So even if the call time of the shoot is 8 in the morning, the boy won't budge till his sleeping quota is complete.

So much for a lean body and to hell with professionalism. We caught to with the lad to get his fitness mantra.

My workout regime… I work five times a week and twice a day. I do cardio for an hour in the morning and do weights training for one hour fifteen minutes in the evening but weights is only four days a week. I am trying to get rid of the extra fat that is accumulated. My workout pattern does change at times and I am quite flexible about it depending on my work.

My happiness quotient… Eat well and sleep well. And also once in every fifteen days relax yourself from the routine.
My daily diet… I eat every three hours and eat six times a day. People in the sub-continent tend to eat more than what is required and end up over eating. Taking moderate quantity of food and eating in regular intervals is what is good for your body.

I start my day with some amount of carbohydrates, usually brown bread or chicken or egg. Then my second meal will be something, which is protein, based, and may be chicken or something green. After that will be my third meal which is usually fish or chicken. My fourth meal would before my workout so I have something light like some protein shake. After my workout is my fifth meal where I tend to make the most out of, I eat something that really fills my stomach. I would have rotis and omlette or may be something else

My sixth meal is dinner which is very light like grilled sandwiches or chicken.

I am a big foodie and love butter chicken. I am partial to anything, which has butter in it. I don't eat rice and don't have more than two rotis.

On a rainy day, my idea of a workout would be... same as on a dry day. I don't have an option and I cannot afford to miss my workout. I believe in working out at least for an hour and realized over time that any form of physical activity is good and a must.

My idea of relaxation... Sleeping for twelve hours and eat whatever I can. I like to stay indoors and watch a lot of TV and play videogames. One needs to distress and relax the body and mind. I also watch movies and occasionally play cricket and go for shopping.

Size zero to you is... The first thing that comes to my mind when I come across the term size-zero is Kareena Kapoor because she and her size zero are splashed all over. But I don't believe in the concept.

People expect overnight results, which are not possible and take wrong measures by taking hard-core steroids, go on liquid diet, and take up a crash course, workout for six hours. They don't realize that they will get the results which are only temporary and don't look at the long run. Taking it slow and steady is what is good for the body. It is important to channelise your lifestyle and keeping fitness as part of your lifestyle. And it is essential to have a good trainer to guide you in the right direction.

And size zero means to look skinny with a 0% body fat and replacing it to muscle fat, but in my book, having the right amount of fat in the form of muscle fat is the healthy alternative. It is good to be flexible with your workout but not food. And one should know to use the flexibility in the right way by not becoming totally lazy.

I crave for...
Food and sleep. By the grace of God I am blessed with everything but sleep is something that is difficult to get with the work pattern that we follow. And parents should not misguide their children by making them overeat but inculcate a healthy lifestyle

A lifestyle change I'm trying to make...
I have lots, which I have started making slowly. I used to over eat before which I have realized is not good. Instead I eat small portions of food, which I have strictly incorporated in my lifestyle. I also try to sleep early and have good amount sleep. It is also important to say NO for food when you are following a diet pattern especially when people force you to take one bite which tends you to over relax yourself. And I have learnt to say NO.

It is good to stay healthy. By taking our weight every morning at a fixed time we can roughly tell if we have been overeating. Digital scales are more accurate. We eat less by eating slowly. Exercise is highly recommended.

Hope he does not faint on the set like Himeshji.😆

It happened during the filming of Karzzzz in South Africa. He must have been either undernourished or dehydrated. Balanced diet is advisable and going to extremes can be dangerous.
