Post-motherhood Mahima Chaudhary is looking to getting back to her career in acting for the big screen.
But she's allergic to the term 'comeback', "It's just a normal maternity break, and I never really wnt away; like say, some Wimbledon tennis star who plays his last tournament before he quits. Even during pregnancy, I ensured that I was active all the time," she counters.
Keep it light
The actress is partial to light roles, "I would prefer a frothy romantic comedy. If it's a supporting character of a mother's role it has got to be more of a children's film," asserts the Pardes girl.
The new mommy wants to send word out that she's ready to return on the sets. "Since my baby Ariana is a year old, I feel I could gradually get back into the movie groove. Recently, I ran into filmmakers like Vikram Bhatt and Vishal Bhardwaj and they were very positive about my resuming acting. Who knows, I may also take up TV show hosting, which is the career with which I originally started off."
Mahima says her hubby is fully supportive of her returning to films, "Bobby encourages me to get back into the creative field. We trust each other completely. Even when we chill out independently with our own set of male or female friends, it's cool with either of us. Fortunately, Bobby is from a highly creative family background so we have not felt it necessary to discuss about my plans to resume my career in showbiz," shrugs Chaudhary.
It's no handicap
The actress doesn't agree that being a married woman and a mother is a handicap in showbiz. "It is always the personal choice of the married heroines whether to continue their career or not.
Which is why heroines like Hema Malini, Rakhee, Aishwarya Rai, Kajol, Juhi Chawla, Madhuri Dixit merited such author-backed meaty roles. So I don't see any reason why a filmmaker should refrain from approaching me. And I am not in a tearing hurry to grab just any and every role," she justifies.
Fighting fit
She lost her post-baby weight rather quickly. Mahima laughs, "It all started when my friends commented at my birthday party, that even after three months post-delivery, I still looked 'pregnant'. Following which, I hired a professional trainer Satish Naidu who guided me on the calorie-burning exercises which helped a great deal in my physical makeover.
Baby won't miss me
Wouldn't her baby miss her when she would start shooting? "I'am not sure when I'd resume my acting career. It could be 10 days or maybe even 10 weeks from now.
Honestly speaking, it is I who keeps missing her whenever I go out, because she continues to merrily play even when I am not around. If the production offers a crche facility in the vicinity of my shoot, (like Madhuri was offered on the Yash Raj sets) it would be a real blessing." she signs off.
