Its not ego...its human nature. You, me, everyone...we ALL want to be financially stable before settling into marriage. Its not "male ego"...he would never object to Heer working - not in a million years...BUT, he doesn't want her supporting him while he sits at home.

And as for his verbal "i'll marry you once i have a job", there was no need for it. After his explanation, Heer understood him perfectly. They've never needed words before, why start now?

Anyway, you're entitled to your opinion. I don't mean to offend you. We're different...our views are bound to differ. I just don't why Prem should have verbalized anything when his intentions were very clear.

actually, prem being extremist-prem, i've always been puzzled at why they are not already married. if the explanation is that he doesn't want to tie heer down in an unstable situation of roti-kapda-makaan, then i'd ask what is he expecting?

is he really expecting that when another guy comes along who can love heer, like prem does, and has all the r-k-m access in the world, prem will push heer towards that character and step away???

if your reaction is are-you-kidding-me like mine is, then i don't really get what he's waiting for. (btw, my favourite explanation is that prem is a radical extremist who doesn't believe in marriage -- like me! 😆)

and sid, i think that the rejection was there loud and clear -- his words, his moving away, -- he was saying no clearly. prem tends to do that. but i think that he's had a really tough time, and is in a mess in his head.

i've got a reason for, but cannot absolve him of the guilt of, having rejected heer. and i find i don't mind accepting that as part of the story line. today, prem proved he is indeed [B}mein-bhagwan-nehi-hoon

so i'd agree with you, if we have prem taking off out of ludhiana -- which he still might. given the way he was trying to run away from heer today, it would get him away from that as well as his father -- all in one big step.

except that prem-boy being the noble fellow he is, has shown this annoying tendency to not run away from what he takes on as his own responsibilities. sigh. he's probably going to stay in ludhiana.

personally, i think his reaction today is just the result of the day's traumas as sid pointed out. i'm keeping my fingers crossed that on an "ordinary" day (does prem ever have those??) he'd had been more sensible about asking for time, rather than saying no.

i thought about it, and had another pov which i posted in someone else's thread about prem's reaction to heer's job situation. i do not think prem's that close-minded. and here's what the other post said:

Hi, guys i love KDMHMD and Prem but recently i feel like not even watching the show, first this is one of the few dramas which started off with tears and is continuing to add more heartache for the last several weeks without any hope. With Prem i was extremely disappointed , a girl comes up and gathers the courage to propse you and you flat out say you cant do it. thats so mean and hurtful i do agree to the reasons but the way he said it was wrong its mostly not wat u say but how u say it that matters and i think he was wrong in handling that situation.
Well if he cannot marry heer how is he planning to keep her with him without any relationship doesnt he care about her respect which he has already been tarnished by walking out on his wedding day without clearing his dad's misconception/accusations on Heer. He has been acting way too emotional and irrational. Doesnt he realize that ppl will talk bad things about heer that she is staying with a Man that has no relationship with her. He is not thinking about her reputation but other things.
btw didnt he know he has none of these things(roti kapda makan) when he said that he will take care of Heer infront of everyone on the wedding day and how does he propose to do that without establishing a relationship or is he too westernized to have a live in realtionship with no legal ties attached or is planning to have Heer tie a rakhi on his hand.
Its not always what prem wants and prem thinks is right but he should pay attention to her desires. I dont think Heer is looking for anyone to pity her of being an orphan and help her because of that reason but she needs a partner with whom she can share good and bad times and who can be a part of her life.
I am sorry if i said too much and hurt someones feelings but i feel Prem is acting stupid and if i was in Heers place i would leave him and go. after all girls have some self respect too.
