MUMBAI, February 20, 2005 - On Sunday, Bollywood stars Preity Zinta, Vivek Oberoi, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, John Abraham and Ravathi Menon paid tribute to NGO Project Concern International's AIDS Walk for Life, one of the most ambitious AIDS awareness campaigns ever undertaken in India.
The AIDS Walk for Life, which began in New Delhi on December 1, 2004, and entered Maharashtra on February 12th, is a year long, 6000-kilometer campaign that aims to educate millions in India about nature of HIV/AIDS and how they can stop its spread. With financial support from Indian and multinationals corporations and foundations, the unprecedented Walk - whose 30-plus walkers are trained AIDS educators - is following the route of the Golden Quadrilateral Highway, the transportation artery that forms a diamond around the heart of the country and cuts through 13 states.
