'Himesh's responsible for our marriage'

Someone rightly said that if you want to be happy all life, then make your best friend your partner. And looks like actors Rajesh Khattar and Vandana Sajnani Khattar, who were each other's best buddies for five years have taken the adage seriously .

In a freewheeling chat with LT, the newlyweda shared with us some happy moments of their lives, their love-hate relationship for each other and much more...

Our first meet...
Together: (laugh) It was Himesh Reshammiya who made the two of us meet for the first time and he is the one who is responsible for the disaster that happened two months back – Our marriage!
V: I personally never approved of Rajesh before I met him. I considered him a bad boy of the industry.

What attracted you two to each other?
R: I saw a complete package of beauty and brains in Vandana.
V: I agree with the compliment! He was with 'dumb' women before he actually met me.

Who took the first step of proposing the other?
V: It goes without saying that it was Rajesh who took the initiative and proposed to me.

One craziest thing that you have done for each other in love...
R: On my birthday she chucked me out of my house for the whole day. Later, when I came home in the night, she had re-decorated my entire house beautifully.
V: Frankly speaking, he's done nothing for me. It was I who used to do crazy things for him. The only thing that I can recall is when I finally wanted to break off with him and went to my house in Pune. He came all the way to Pune from Mumbai at 6:00 clock in the morning.

Who's making the maximum compromises after marriage?
V: For five years it was I who made all sacrifices. Now it's his turn.

Both of you being from the theatre industry, how would you rate each other as an actor?
R: Acting comes naturally to Vandana. Also, she's quick in grasping the gist of the character. I would rate her somewhere around 7 on 10. I've deducted three marks as she has a lot in her as an actress which has still not been exploited.
V: Rajesh is a method actor and studies and researches each character that he portrays in depth. 8.5 is what he deserves for his acting. It's his over-confidence that makes him lose 1.5 marks.

What is that one habit of each other that irritates you the most?
R: She's too hyper about things.
V: He never allows anybody to touch his mobile phone. I don't know what's there to hide from me. He doesn't even allow his son Ishaan (from his previous marriage) to touch it.

What next...
V: I'm done with my first script which is a comedy that I'll be directing as well. I'm almost done with finalising the cast of it.
R: I'm doing Sagar Bellary's next movie along with international tele-series Sharpe's Peril and a couple of other movies as well.
