He sees her right in front of him but doesn't know how to say it. Doesn't know whether it is the right time to say it. Will she understand the affection behind it or will she misunderstand him? Whatever it was he had to take the chance right now. He left his guard and walked towards her through the firing of bullets and constant shelling. Nothing was going to prevent him from getting to his life.

She was too busy fighting with the enemy to notice anyone coming but she could sense he was coming closer to her. The hairs at the back of her neck were evident as they had stuck up. Her heart is racing and that is not with the anger towards the enemy but it is to do with the love she holds for that one person whom she considers her own. What is he doing coming to her through a time like this? She stops with the firing and stares back at him.
People are dying and the deafening noises of the bombardment aren't helping either. He looks around at people, some are crying in pain and some are crying in contempt that they got to die for the country. He stops in his tracks and wonders if what he is about to do is as contemptuous or not. Is he being selfish? Is he making the wrong decision?
What must he be thinking? She wonders whilst standing in front of him. What if he has come to say final goodbye that they hadn't had time to say? She won't be able to say farewell as she won't be going anywhere and will make sure he doesn't either.
He goes closer to her, so close that he doesn't even allow air to pass through. Just then a shell lands next to them, sending them on the ground and into hideout. No matter what happens he doesn't let go of her hand, he even covers on top of her so that no harm comes. "Naina I've to say something."
She sees a man attacking him from behind so she rolls over with him and the guy misses. They manage to find cover. "Whatever it is Rajveer sir you'll have to wait."
"But Naina it must be now or ne…" he can't finish as she pushes him aside and picks up a rifle with a knife in it and pokes it into an assailing soldier. She has sworn to protect him at any cost.
Now he has rolled away from her but is in speaking distance. "Naina listen to me please." He grabs a rifle and pokes an enemy and gets up in a sitting position. "Aaj agar nahi kaha to phir kabhi nahi keh paoonga."
She saves herself from the attacks and fires some more bullets. Now his distance has increased from her but she manages to shout out her query, "what are you trying to say Sir?"
He tries to get near her but there is too much prevention. He jumps over dead bodies, dodges bullets and near death explosions. No matter what happens he has to get to her. "Naina what I'm trying to say is that now there isn't much time left as anything could happen any second." Just then a bomb explodes behind him and throws him a few distances away from Naina. She shrieks and tries to run towards him but another soldier requires her help more.
She has her eyes on him but there's too much smoke and dirt in the air. Just when she's lost hope she finds him lying. He's stirring some what and yes his eyes are also open so he has not left her yet. By laying low she is able to reach by his side and can hear him groan and mumble something. What exactly is it? Yes it is her name.
"Naina, Naina there's something I want to ask you." He manages to grasp her hand with his bloody one and holds it tight. Then with her support he sits up and leans against the broken brick wall. He grasps for air and then takes something out of his pocket. "Naina I know this might sound the wrong time for you but for me this the right time anyone can find."
What is he trying to say? She can't seem to concentrate on what's going on in the battle field. Her full concentration is on what he is trying to tell her and still hasn't said. What if it was too late? Things just had to go wrong as some firing was heard around her area. She shot up with the rifle and began shooting and managed to get some targets.
"Will you marry me Naina?" he just blurted it out as he could feel his life slipping out of him. If he were to leave this world then he let it be on this last note.
She was too shocked to react. Something which she had imagined would be asked in a more subtle and romantic atmosphere was being asked on a battle field in between war. It was too late, yes she shouldn't have had taken too long standing there doing nothing. She got hit and now she knew it was the end. She slumps down next to him and he catches her just in time.
"Naina, you can't leave me without answering my question." He puts her head in his lap.
She smiles at him with blurry eyes, "ask me the question again captain."
"Will you marry me Cadet Naina Singh Ahluwalia?"
Tears form in her eyes as she puts her hand forward to show her decision, "Of course I'll marry you Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat. This would be an honour for me to die…" she has hiccups now, "die as your wife."
He slips the ring on and then hugs her fiercely with a waterfall of tears flowing.
All the time since he had realised he was in love with Naina he was unable to relay his feelings to her and now when he had finally both of them had reached to the end peak of their journey in life. Perhaps they were destined only to be together in the after life
