Aziz Mirza's Kismat Konnection starring Shahid and Vidya is all set to hit the theatres on 18th July. The director shares his excitement regarding his 'hatke' love story during the music launch of the film.
"I think Kismat Konnection was destined to be made. It is more than a love story as the characters are complex. It not an everyday boy meets girl, boy loses girl and boy gets girl again kind of story," explained Aziz who has made movies like Yes Boss, Chalte Chalte and Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman.
When asked why his latest venture does not feature his favourite SRK, he replied, "My films are not dramatic, or plot oriented. They have no melodrama. It is all about the characters. The scenes in my films whether good or bad, are very delicate. So I need my actors to convey emotions really well, otherwise the movie will fall flat. They are some actors who you don't want to push too much because you know what the end result will be like. I was very fortunate to get these two for Kismat Konnection. They are capable of so much more."
Sharing his experience of working with youngsters, he revealed, "I enjoyed working with them and consider myself fortunate at this age I have got these two youngsters. I was a bit strict with them at times. You know you have a good shot, but if you pretend you are not happy, they will whole heartedly give you an even better shot. So you can keep pushing them. At times without telling them, they have performed and given me a dimension that even I hadn't thought of. "
Aziz also explained why he used two Ks in the title. "My working title for the film was Lucky Charms. But my writer Sanjay Chhel, who has given me all my titles, can come up with 48 titles in 5 seconds. 38 of them will be stupid but at least one will be good. So he suggested Karmic Connection and Kismat Connection. I loved the latter and Mr. Taurani put the K"
Vidya, who also present during the launch couldn't stop raving about her experience. "It was such a breeze. I got along really well with Shahid. I am a chatterbox and he is very shy so I broke the ice between us by asking for his autograph. Aziz Uncle made us perform effortlessly with not too many takes, he had one to one conversations with us and said things that made us connect to the film instantly. I couldn't help but do this film because the story was so sweet and adorable."
To this Aziz uncle, jokingly added, "I would have killed you if you'd refused."
Vidya made waves with her debut Parineeta. So how different is Kismat from Parineeta which was also a love story. "Parineeta was a period story, a dramatic mature love story. Kismat is a very young, happy fun film. Unlike Bhool Bhulaiya, I am not scaring anyone in this film. In fact, I play Shahid's lucky charm."
So did Aziz Uncle, as he is fondly called, bully her on the sets? "The only one, who got bullied on the set, was me. I look like I have been bullied a lot, don't I? On a serious note, Aziz Uncle showers his actors and his entire unit with a lot of love and hugs and the jaadu ki jhappis keep happening which kept our spirits up. He is hardly a bully," says Vidya.
