Yeah but people like your parents/relatives are still in the minority. If you look at any row of 10 houses, 5 of them will have women like mataji. My own house has them. My mom is always after me - get married, get married, get married. You'll be all alone, you need someone in old age, you need a companion, blah blah blah. She's progressive in many ways, but regressive in that way.

And every time we would go back to my mom's house in India, there was always that one aunty who would be like "oh beti bahut moti ho gayi ho, kaun shaadi karega". I was 10 you bloody aunty. Yeah I'm a millenial in my 30s so this was in the late 90s and early 2000s, but still we have such people.

Because it isn't about how progressive you become. It's about society and mentality. In general amongst us South Asians, we care too much about what society thinks. Even if no one cares about you, the first thing in our mind is log kya kahenge. It's in-breed in us no matter where in the world we live.

And just to be clear it isn't our problem alone. Every group of people have their issues. A lot of my Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese friends have told me about how their societies care too much about women always having whitish skin, looking young, and being petite. It's why Korean skincare is so good. Or why Chinese people have so many protections from the sun.

Mataji is a product of that. And some people try to break free of that mentality, like Dr, but others don't, like Mataji. Mataji is happy being in this dumb patriarchal bubble.

Auntyji is truly mohalle ki aunty. Soch bhi waisi, kaam bhi waise. Now we'll have to see how they'll whitewash her because they just will. After all, ITV mein ma toh ma hoti hai.

I have my doubts. If they wanted to whitewash her, they wouldn't have had that scene today where Dr knew that mataji knew and never told him. Even though Saumya tried to protect her, you could see from Dr's face that he didn't believe it. And the precap adds to that.

Mataji and thakeli taiji will give each other shabashi, but they won't get it from others.

Oh same here. I am not pining high hopes on it. But so far this show has managed to surprise me with some good writing and mostly fast paced drama. So who knows.

One thing is - it finally makes sense why Aman Verma took this role. I was thinking it would be a small role - once Roop's reality came out, he would be arrested and taken away. But asli drama toh ab shuru hoga. All of them still living under one roof, but now everyone knows about Roop's reality and Saumya can finally breathe freely with 2 green flag men playing her friend, protector, and love and 2 men at home who will beat anyone up who even dares look at Saumya the wrong way. Bas dono ladies mein thodi sense aa jaye toh baat hi kya hai.

I sincerely hope they never turn Hridhan negative. The amount of love and care he has in his heart for Saumya - they better not go that Mannat show way. From the videos Colors posts on FB, it's obvious bhai turned against bhai for the girl. Not here. Please CVs not here. Bahut saalon baad I've started watching a daily...don't screw it up.

Ridhaan/Hridaan (pata nahi konsa spelling sahi hai) loves Jeet so much and when he cried today, I loved that his first gripe was that he couldn't protect Jeet despite knowing himself that Jeet couldn't have been wrong. And even though I find him liking Saumya a little delusional since it's very one-sided, and truly find the toffee thing so funny (har baat pe toffee leke aa jata hai; wholesale mein laake rakhi hogi), I don't want him to turn negative. De do usko uski apni parallel lead yaar. Woh Reva ko bula lo.

But yes. He wasn't crying about what happened with Saumya. I mean obviously that was a factor. But he was crying over the fact that Jeet was being blamed for something that was never wrong to begin with.

I find the toffee thing endearing. It's a childhood memory that brings peace to both of them. Yeah it's weird that he always has one on him, but that much I'll chalk up to TV writing and drama.

Even his one-sided love isn't bad. He's cute when he has the reactions to Saumya's words and he truly does care for her. He's there, but he never pushes to know anything. Even yesterday when he found out what happened and offered Saumya support through the toffee - if the CVs wanted they could have made that scene so much different. I was half expecting him to say that he knows to Saumya. Instead he didn't.

That's why I really hope they don't turn him negative. He loves, he cares, he's so positive and smiling in life, and he has a loving daadi for support. He has no reason to turn negative even if Saumya doesn't love him back. I can accept him being hurt and ignoring Saumya and Jeet for a bit. Maybe even running back to London. But not him planning and plotting to separate Saumya and Jeet or forcefully marrying Saumya or making Jeet's life a living hell. He literally calls Jeet his brother in every other sentence and he says clearly that whatever happened wasn't Jeet's fault. What else do we need to keep him positive?
