Chapter 4
It was beautifully written
I loved how you balanced nostalgia, friendship, humor, and suspense. The emotions felt genuine, especially Rey's interactions with his students and Kriya's quiet moments with Sharon. The lunch scene with the D3 gang brought back so many memories, and the mysterious phone call followed by the final "BEGIN" scene gave me chills. The ending has made me even more excited for the next chapter.
Chapter5 – Part 1
The Moment Time Stood Still
Mumbai had witnessed countless sunrises.
Some welcomed new beginnings.
Some quietly marked endings.
But this morning...
It carried something different.
Destiny.
Rey stood in front of the floor-length mirror inside hisbedroom, adjusting the cuff of his charcoal-grey blazer.
His room reflected the man he had become over the lastdecade.
Minimalistic.
Elegant.
Everything neatly arranged.
Every award displayed with quiet pride.
Every achievement earned through relentless hard work.
Yet one corner of the room stood untouched by time.
A wooden bookshelf.
On its highest shelf sat a faded silver trophy.
St. Louis College Dance Fest – Winners
Beside it rested a framed photograph.
The D3 gang.
He reached for it almost unconsciously.
His thumb brushed across the smiling face of the girlstanding beside him.
Kriya.
"So..."
he whispered.
"Today's the day."
A knock echoed through the room.
"Come in."
The door opened, revealing Swayam.
Already dressed in a navy-blue suit, he leaned casuallyagainst the doorframe.
"You've been staring at that photograph again."
Rey smiled faintly.
"I didn't realize I was."
"You always do before something important."
Swayam walked inside and picked up the frame.
"You know..."
he said softly,
"If college-Rey could see you now..."
"He'd probably laugh."
"He'd probably tell you to stop overthinking."
Rey chuckled.
"He'd also challenge me to a dance battle."
"And lose."
Rey raised an eyebrow.
"Excuse me?"
"I'm married now."
"So?"
"I've become wiser."
"You've become older."
"Same thing."
They laughed.
The comfortable silence that followed reminded them ofyears gone by.
Swayam eventually looked at Rey.
"Are you ready?"
The smile slowly disappeared from Rey's face.
"I honestly don't know."
"For what?"
"For seeing her."
Across the city...
Sharon quietly opened the guest room door.
"Kriya?"
No response.
She walked inside.
The curtains had already been drawn open.
Morning sunlight flooded the room.
Kriya stood on the balcony.
A white coffee mug rested in her hands.
Her gaze remained fixed on the endless Mumbai skyline.
"You've been awake since five?"
Sharon asked gently.
"I couldn't sleep."
"Nervous?"
Kriya smiled without turning around.
"That's the third time you've asked me."
"And?"
"And the answer hasn't changed."
She finally looked back.
"I'm terrified."
Sharon walked beside her.
Neither spoke for a while.
Sometimes...
Silence understood people better than words.
Finally, Sharon broke it.
"You know..."
"What?"
"I always imagined this day."
"So did I."
"I imagined you yelling at Rey."
Kriya laughed.
"I imagined him yelling at me."
Sharon smiled.
"And now?"
"I don't know what will happen."
Her voice became almost a whisper.
"What if he doesn't even look at me?"
Sharon turned toward her.
"You still don't understand him."
Kriya lowered her eyes.
"No..."
"I don't."
At exactly 9:30 a.m...
The National Convention Centre buzzed with activity.
Luxury cars lined the entrance.
Television crews prepared their cameras.
Journalists adjusted microphones.
Contestants hurried through the grand lobby.
Banners stretched across the marble walls.
NATIONAL DANCE EXCELLENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
Celebrating Passion Beyond Boundaries
Inside the massive auditorium...
Technicians checked lights.
Music echoed through the empty hall.
Everything had to be perfect.
Backstage...
The organizing committee moved briskly between dressingrooms.
"Where's Judge Sharma?"
"Has the press arrived?"
"Prepare the conference room."
"We're starting in thirty minutes."
A sleek black BMW stopped outside the entrance.
Rey stepped out.
Camera flashes immediately followed.
"Sir!"
"Mr. Singhania!"
"One picture!"
He smiled politely.
Answered a few questions.
Signed a few autographs.
Then entered the building.
Inside...
Everything felt strangely familiar.
The smell of polished wooden floors.
The sound of dancers rehearsing somewhere nearby.
The distant rhythm of music.
For just a second...
It reminded him of St. Louis College.
At almost the same moment...
Another car slowly entered through the opposite gate.
Sharon parked quietly.
Neither woman moved immediately.
Kriya stared through the windshield.
The Convention Centre stood before her.
Large.
Grand.
Unavoidable.
Sharon gently placed a hand over hers.
"You don't have to prove anything today."
Kriya smiled weakly.
"I know."
"You just have to breathe."
"I'll try."
She took one deep breath.
Then another.
Finally...
She opened the car door.
The moment her heels touched the pavement...
The familiar sounds of camera shutters surrounded her.
"Ms. Ghai!"
"Welcome back to India!"
"How does it feel judging an Indian competitionafter so many years?"
She smiled professionally.
Answered politely.
But her eyes...
Her eyes searched the crowd without realizing it.
Looking.
Waiting.
Wondering.
Is he already here?
Inside the Convention Centre...
Rey walked toward the VIP lounge.
His assistant hurried beside him.
"Sir, all judges have been requested to assemble inthe Green Room."
"Has everyone arrived?"
"Almost."
"Who hasn't?"
She glanced at her tablet.
"Ms. Kriya Ghai."
His footsteps slowed.
Only slightly.
Enough for the assistant to notice.
But she wisely remained silent.
Meanwhile...
Kriya entered through another corridor.
An event volunteer greeted her warmly.
"Good morning, ma'am."
"Good morning."
"This way, please."
She followed him.
Every corridor looked the same.
Every turn made her heartbeat louder.
She wasn't afraid of cameras.
She wasn't afraid of interviews.
She wasn't even afraid of judging hundreds of dancers.
She was afraid of one person.
The volunteer stopped before an elegant wooden door.
A brass nameplate beside it read:
JUDGES' GREEN ROOM
"This is where everyone is waiting, ma'am."
Everyone.
Her breathing became uneven.
The volunteer smiled politely before walking away.
Now...
She stood alone.
Just one door separated her from a decade of unansweredquestions.
Inside...
Rey stood near the coffee table, speaking to anotherjudge.
He wasn't listening.
Not really.
Something felt different.
As if...
The room itself had become quieter.
Outside...
Kriya slowly lifted her trembling hand.
Her fingers touched the doorknob.
She closed her eyes.
Ten years.
Ten years of silence.
Ten years of memories.
Ten years of wondering.
She took one last deep breath.
And gently pushed the door open.
The door creaked softly.
Inside...
Every conversation stopped.
Several judges turned toward the entrance.
Rey instinctively looked up.
His eyes met hers.
Time...
Stopped.
Neither moved.
Neither spoke.
The room disappeared.
The people disappeared.
The noise disappeared.
There was only...
Rey.
And Kriya.
Standing exactly where fate had always intended them tobe.
To Be Continued...
Finally they come face to face. After 10 years. This is not the place to talk yet, but hope they will get that.
I really want to know who this mysterious figure is and what he wants

Chapter5 – Part 2
When Our Eyes Met Again
Silence.
Sometimes...
Silence carried more weight than a thousand spoken words.
The moment the door opened, every conversation inside theGreen Room faded into the background.
Rey stood frozen.
His fingers still loosely wrapped around the porcelaincoffee cup he had forgotten he was holding.
Across the room...
Kriya remained near the doorway.
One hand still rested on the brass handle.
She had imagined this moment countless times over thelast ten years.
In some memories, Rey smiled.
In others, he turned away.
Sometimes he questioned her.
Sometimes he hated her.
But never...
Never had she imagined that he would simply stand there, looking at her as though time itself had forgotten to move.
He looked different.
Older.
Sharper.
The mischievous college boy had become a man whose quietconfidence filled the room without demanding attention.
Yet his eyes...
They hadn't changed.
They still held the warmth she remembered.
The warmth she had spent ten years trying to forget.
And failed.
Rey couldn't look away.
She was here.
Not in an old photograph.
Not in a forgotten memory.
Not on the cover of an international dance magazine.
She was standing only a few feet away.
Real.
Breathing.
Looking at him with the same brown eyes that had oncebecome his favorite place in the world.
Neither realized how long they had been staring.
It was one of the organizers who finally cleared histhroat.
"Ms. Ghai..."
The spell broke.
Kriya blinked and forced herself to step inside.
Every footstep echoed across the silent room.
Rey's heartbeat matched each one.
One...
Two...
Three...
She stopped at a respectful distance.
Close enough to recognize the faint scar above hiseyebrow—the one he'd gotten during a rehearsal at St. Louis when Amar hadaccidentally dropped a prop.
He still had it.
Some things really did survive time.
The organizer smiled nervously.
"Mr. Singhania... Ms. Ghai... welcome."
Neither responded.
The other judges exchanged curious glances. They knewthese two legends had danced together years ago, but none of them expected theroom to grow so quiet at their reunion.
Sharon watched from the corner, her hands clasped tightlytogether.
Beside her, Swayam let out a slow breath he hadn'trealized he'd been holding.
After ten years...
They were finally in the same room.
Kriya gathered every ounce of courage she had left.
"Hi..."
Her voice was barely above a whisper.
"...Rey."
The sound of his name on her lips after all these yearssent a tremor through him.
For a heartbeat, he was no longer a celebratedchoreographer.
He was twenty-four again.
Standing in the rehearsal hall at St. Louis.
Watching the girl he loved smile at him after anotherdance practice.
He swallowed hard.
"Hi..."
His voice came out softer than he intended.
"...Kriya."
A single word.
Just her name.
Yet it carried ten years of unanswered questions.
Ten years of sleepless nights.
Ten years of love that had refused to disappear.
Neither knew what to say next.
What words could possibly bridge a decade of silence?
"I'm..."
Kriya began.
Then stopped.
"I'm sorry."
The words escaped before she could stop them.
Rey's expression changed almost imperceptibly.
Sorry.
Such a small word.
Could it ever be enough?
Before either of them could continue, the eventcoordinator hurried forward.
"I'm terribly sorry to interrupt."
He looked between them apologetically.
"We're about to begin the judges' briefing."
Professionalism returned like a shield.
Kriya straightened.
"Of course."
Rey simply nodded.
The meeting began.
Yet neither heard much of what was said.
Rules.
Schedules.
Scoring criteria.
Media appearances.
Everything blurred into meaningless noise.
Across the long conference table, Rey found his eyesdrifting toward Kriya.
She was taking notes.
Listening carefully.
Occasionally brushing a loose strand of hair behind herear.
A habit she had always had.
She still tapped her pen lightly whenever she wasnervous.
She still frowned ever so slightly when concentrating.
She hadn't changed as much as he thought.
Almost as if sensing his gaze, Kriya looked up.
Their eyes met again.
This time...
Neither looked away immediately.
Sharon noticed.
So did Swayam.
Neither said a word.
Some reunions needed witnesses.
Others needed silence.
An hour later, the briefing finally ended.
The judges slowly gathered their files.
One by one, they left the room.
Soon, only four people remained.
Rey.
Kriya.
Swayam.
Sharon.
No one moved.
It was Swayam who finally smiled.
"So..."
His voice carried the same warmth it always had.
"Are we going to stand here forever?"
That broke the tension.
A small laugh escaped Sharon.
Even Rey smiled faintly.
Kriya looked at Swayam, her eyes filling with emotion.
"You haven't changed."
"I have."
He grinned.
"I complain a lot more now."
She laughed through the tears threatening to fall.
"You always did."
Swayam walked toward her.
Without hesitation, he wrapped her in a warm hug.
"Welcome home, Kriya."
The words shattered the wall she had spent ten yearsbuilding.
She closed her eyes.
Tears slipped silently down her cheeks.
"I missed you," she whispered.
"We missed you too."
When Swayam stepped back, Sharon gently squeezed Kriya'shand.
For the first time since she had returned to Mumbai...
She didn't feel alone.
Rey watched quietly.
A thousand emotions battled within him.
Relief.
Hurt.
Love.
Confusion.
Hope.
He wanted answers.
He wanted to ask why.
He wanted to know whether those ten years had meantanything to her.
But looking at the tears in her eyes...
He couldn't.
Not today.
Instead, he simply picked up his file.
"I'll see you tomorrow."
His voice was calm.
Polite.
Professional.
Nothing more.
Kriya nodded slowly.
"Tomorrow."
He walked past her.
So close that she caught the familiar scent of hiscologne.
The same one he had worn during their final collegefestival.
She closed her eyes for a fleeting second.
He still wore it.
Just before reaching the door, Rey stopped.
Without turning around, he spoke quietly.
"I'm glad you're back."
Then he walked out.
The door closed softly behind him.
Kriya stood rooted to the spot.
One sentence.
Just one.
Yet it meant more than she had dared to hope.
Sharon smiled through misty eyes.
"Saw that?"
Kriya looked at her.
"He didn't ask me why I left."
"No."
Sharon smiled knowingly.
"He chose kindness over anger."
Outside the Green Room...
Rey walked down the empty corridor alone.
His heart felt impossibly heavy.
His phone vibrated.
Another message from the unknown number.
He opened it.
There was no text.
Only an old photograph.
A photograph of Rey and Kriya dancing at the St. Louisannual fest.
Beneath it...
Just one sentence.
"Ask her what happened on the night she left."
Rey's footsteps slowed.
The warmth of their reunion vanished, replaced by a chillthat settled deep within him.
He stared at the message.
Who knew about that night?
And why did it feel like someone had been waiting tenyears to make him ask that question?
Far away, inside the Green Room, Kriya suddenly felt aninexplicable shiver.
Somewhere...
The past had begun to wake up.
To Be Continued...
What did happen before she left? This unknown person is trying to bring the past back out in front. Why?
