if we compare Karan and Gautam
I find Gautam,Damini,Nakul more close and stick together types. They are bad but atleast they seem normal.Morally wrong but ethically a bit correct. In sense that they dont care of feelings, traditions but they aren't evil as in misogyny. This is what I felt.Nakul didnt take a stand since gautam and damini didnt care much of the family traditions.
Karan and his kids plus 2Ns feel disconnected and very superficial.Like there isnt any real bond. Its fake. Also it annoyed me that samaira and Garima wore suit salwar and Raunak was allowed to wear a leopard print jacket and jeans. He is such a good boy why doesnt karan make him wear kurta or shirt pant?
I know im nitpicking but its the casual misogyny that irks me.Why can't girls get a choice to wear what they want
Nakul had the doubt of doing wrong with SN and also the way he behaves with samaira felt like the normal siblings bickering.
I don’t see it as anything good particularly if you ask me. Damini and Gautam are a close team because Gautam wants to do wrong but Damini acts as his enforcer because she thinks it makes more money and she doesn’t care about the traditions of the family though she shows she loves Tulsi.
Nakul was raised by his mom primarily as we saw she left Gautam for god knows how long before when he didn’t have enough money. A woman who was willing to leave her husband simply because he couldn’t afford to spend enough money to send their son to US isn’t IMO a role model in any manner whatsoever. Nakul had to literally see his dad willing to go to jail for his sake to even acknowledge that his dad loves him though he lacks money.
They’re together now because they have money and even now Nakul is essentially learning from his dad who suffered because he didn’t have money that it’s okay to ditch the legacy and traditions of your ancestors for money. When Damini kept him away from his son we all pitied Gautam especially because we found out that it was all about money and not anything else and even back then it wasn’t like Gautam was about to make them beg on the streets or anything either but he couldn’t afford the lifestyle of luxury that Damini desired.
Karan’s side of the family has a different slate altogether IMO. We saw his kids grew up watching mom and dad arguing and now we know perhaps the dual life Karan lived was a big part of it because Nandini couldn’t bring it in herself to accuse Karan of an affair until she saw him with Niyati but there was something nagging her always. Then these very kids have been dealing with the trauma of the death of their older sibling, the same being done by their grandmother allegedly and how that has taken a toll on their dad who was such a jovial and lenient man before but has now become this. Throw in the arguments that they now witness between Karan and Gautam and you see a lot of things making sense here.
We can’t compare the two because one is kept together by literally liquidity and the other is held together despite traumas.
That’s comparing apples to oranges IMO.
