Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky
His personal life was as intriguing as his novels, if not more. His way of life was really weird and oddly human. His uncannily natural way of life explains his roller-coaster style of writing. As he himself once said, To write novels in suhc outrageously, comically painful situations - Turgenev would die of the very thought!

i would say Jane Austen and Edgar Allen Poe.
i just adore Jane Austen's life. its so interesting, and quite ironic. her stories were all romantic and yet she was never married herself...now thats something i find to be quite interesting.
and Edgar Allen Poe...his different life certinly reflected in the insanity of some of his novels.

^i agree with you on Dostoevsky...i note him for Crime and Punishment.

Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes, Kurt Vonnegut, and Isabel Allende. I could go on and on, but I will stop.
