The usual suspects are attacking Janhvi.Looks suspect and agenda driven..They may have a point
. We members would like to watch and judge those scenes
.
Can someone post the offending scenes. I see lot of mention of Deepika in Pathaan, maybe Gehraaiyaan..
Will it make 100 crore worldwide day 1 then stumble like most of these films
Just saw the movie. It’s a mixed bag. The film is not a complete write-off because it remains quite engaging in parts, but there’s nothing particularly remarkable about it either. The major problem is that the film tries to juggle too many elements and consequently feels half-baked. The stretched running time in the second half is another major issue. At 189 minutes, it feels like a never-ending saga.
The film begins in the 1990s and takes us to a village that is largely isolated from the rest of India. The cricket match right at the beginning effectively sets the tone. Ram Charan’s introduction at this point is genuinely euphoric. The story is mostly narrated through a flashback, where an outsider, Boman Irani, attempts to gain insight into the lives of the villagers.
The biggest problem with the film is that it is never quite sure what it wants to be. There are simply too many things happening, which dilutes its impact. It starts off as a cricket-based sports drama, but right before the interval, the cricket angle is abandoned in favor of boxing.
The drama also feels unrealistic because everything is excessively over the top. The action sequence just before the interval, where Ram Charan takes on an entire police brigade, is particularly unbelievable. The romantic angle inserted into the narrative is equally ridiculous. The forced kisses between the leads, the objectification of Janhvi, and several suggestive dialogues come across as being in poor taste. For instance, in one scene, Ram Charan says he wants to get married because he is tired of sleeping alone.
The running time is another negative point. The first half remains engaging enough, but the second half drags on endlessly with several episodes that feel completely implausible. First, Ram Charan loses his legs, then visits Delhi, and eventually goes on to win the Olympics. These portions feel unnecessary and only add to the film’s bloated length. The movie simply refuses to end. In fact, there are three separate end-credit sequences.
The film does have some positives, though. The scale is grand, and the emotional core is quite effective. The railway track sequence, in particular, is sure to give viewers goosebumps. The boxing matches have also been executed brilliantly.
Ram Charan’s performance is another major asset. He is in terrific form throughout. Janhvi, unfortunately, has been wasted in an underwritten role.
Overall, the film works in parts, but it desperately needed substantial trimming, especially in the second half.
