He had joined the military because of the princess.

With his skills, martial arts, and strategy, he quickly rose to the position of general.(Middle ke chapter hero ke military mein progress ke bare mein hi likha hua hai like fan changyu)

But then Wen Yu made it seem as if he had misunderstood her feelings all along, so that night he left without telling anyone.

(The hero thought she also had feelings for him because, back when the princess was disguised as a maid in his house, he had carved a wooden craft for her with her name/design on it before she left after revealing her real identity.

She always kept that craft with her. Even after returning to her position as a princess, she carefully stored it in a sachet and carried it around all the time.

Later, when it got lost and the hero found it, he realized that she truly did have feelings for him.

But, as usual, the heroine denied it anyway

Later, in the morning, a soldier came and informed everyone that he had resigned from the military.

Wen Yu acted completely normal in front of others, but after everyone left, she completely fell apart. (mujhe bada maja aya aur lagao apna dimaag)

I think this might be the rejection scene!

The outfit Zhang Linghe is wearing is this the usual dress code for a general in historical dramas?

Can someone tell me?

Chapter 99 is really good.

The princess sends her bodyguard and some soldiers to find the hero, and they actually manage to find him. But when they ask him to return, he refuses.

The twist in the story is that after the hero resigned, the Minister (teacher bhi hai princess ka)starts believing that the hero is a traitor and has had connection with Pie Song (the villain).

But the princess knows that this is false and that there is another reason behind his resignation.

However, she cannot tell anyone the truth.

On top of that, to protect the hero’s reputation, she keeps sending people to search for him.

But when he refuses to go back, the soldiers try to fight him and still fail to defeat him.

Then he escapes on horseback, so they start shooting drugged arrows at him.

But among them, someone by mistake fires a poisoned arrow instead. (Later, it turns out that the teacher had ordered that soldier to kill him)

The princess thinks the hero is dead because nobody could find his body, but the people who tried to kill him are certain that he could not have survived.

Ps:- This novel is a roller coaster ride Sometimes it feels so boring, and then suddenly it becomes so interesting that you just can’t stop reading

Guys, I don’t know what kind of story this is honestly !

I haven’t watched or read that many costume dramas, which is why I’m even more shocked.

Pursuit of Jade felt so much better to me. I really liked it.

But in this story, the princess already married Prince Chen!

, but I honestly don’t even feel like reading anymore.

And then chapter 104 was too much.

The villain killed the hero’s mother too.

He kept her alive and hidden for almost a year, and then suddenly murdered her.

What even is this

At this point, it doesn’t even feel like a happy-ending novel anymore.

I’m already traumatized after reading this much.

I’ll probably still finish the whole story someday, but I really didn’t like the kind of twists the writer chose to write here

Ps:- costume drama mein aisa hi hota hai kya? Mean heroine Kisi aur se shaadi kar le FIR Koi kyon Hi padega novel ko.

The way the hero’s character is written, and the kind of situations he keeps going through, honestly feels really heartbreaking.

You just keep feeling bad for him the entire time.

Not really! Not in the sense of pair swap for sure! But there can be graphical scenes explained in the most detailed manner sometimes since you have problem with too much of khoon you might want to stay away!

I don't count angst and yearning in heartbreaking - so idk if my answer is what exactly you're looking for

It’s not just me everyone’s brain is fried after reading this novel.

At this point, I’m not even interested in the drama adaptation anymore.
