It's 6 v 7 as the 2026 edition of the IPL reached a pivotal stage. Both CSK and DC are in a position where they cannot afford any further reversals. With a gap of 4 points between themselves and the Gujarat Titans at the 5th spot, the team that wins tonight will keep themselves in with a good chance of staying alive in the race for the playoffs. Both teams have secured some momentum going into this match - CSK thumped aside MI while DC saw off RR in a stiff battle. We are back at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the national capital and we are playing on pitch number 4, the same surface which saw the home team crash to 75 all-out against the Royal Challengers from Bengaluru. But they chased down a massive score against the Royals and that should keep them in good stead. It is a battle between two teams who are desperate for points, it should be a cracking affair. Toss and team sheets coming up shortly..

Pranav: "Hope we get another high-scoring game or a last-over thriller or both!" Not being demanding at all, is Pranav.

JJ: "Soooo who does Ngidi replace in today's XI" He's fit, and should come in for Kyle Jamieson.

Mr. K: "Us DC fans are pumped to finally see Starc and Ngidi together. I hope our record of historically performing badly in big games versus CSK reverses in this match." Where are all the CSK fans at?

Is someone doing Kala Jadu at CSK camp?smiley5

Tristan Stubbs talking pre-match: (record chase in the last game, confidence must be high?) "Yeah, I think the confidence has been there. We've had a couple shaky ones again before we scored 260, so the confidence wasn't there. But it is nice to get a, it seems like it's a common score that, but it is still a really big score and a really good chase. So to bring that into today to our home ground is great. (overseas finisher in the XI, how do you prepare for this role?) Yeah, I think a lot of the boys are just trying to hit the ball to Neptune and back. But we come here, it's sort of from the World Cup to now, you haven't been able to predict what the wicket's going to do. And yeah, batting in the middle there, I don't think my role changes much. Ashutosh is batting beautifully. So it really gives you that confidence that he's still in the shed to come. Akshar's still behind him. So it's a lot of batting, so it gives you confidence. (last game against CSK you hit 60, will that help today?) I don't think so. You get out there, new wicket. That was a really nice pitch that day, a bit of bounce. So we don't know what we're going to get here. But new wicket, you start on nought and it's a fresh game. So yeah, we're excited. Bit of weather around, so you never know. But yeah, it's been a big game for both teams."

Nitish Rana talking pre-match (translated from Hindi):(a sense of familiarity as this is your homeground) No, actually when you enter this atmosphere - I’ve been coming into this ground since childhood. So I wouldn’t say that I don’t feel nervous. You do feel nervous before every game. But yes, there is definitely a sense of comfort because at home a person feels more comfortable, and this is my home. (partnership with KL has been good this season) I think yes, because before the season started, I had a lot of conversations with KL bhai. And I feel that our mindset towards cricket, or our approach towards a game, matches to a large extent. So that has definitely helped. And the hope is that such partnerships continue to come, especially in crucial matches, and that they help us win. (psychological edge against CSK today?) Sir, I think we should focus on controlling our own game - what we can control - rather than what the points table is saying, or how many wins or losses each team has in the tournament. Today’s game is important, yes, but if we focus on all three departments and perform well in all three, then the result will definitely be in our favor.
