One of the regular member here(pro-sanghi) comes regularly in MID to mock me as khalistani just because I am a Punjabi guy.

Everything related to punjab is not khalistan, Diljit prove this point very well.

The Khalistan movement is a separatist campaign seeking to establish an independent sovereign state called "Khalistan" (Land of the Khalsa) for Sikhs, carved out of Punjab in India. The movement peaked in the 1980s, characterized by violent insurgency, and saw a decline in the 1990s due to state crackdowns. The movement has resurfaced periodically, with support primarily stemming from sections of the diaspora in countries like Canada, the UK, and the USA.

Yes many Khalistani movements and groups are deemed terrorist organizations, but it isn't recognized worldwide as one, like ISIS. Plus there are no recognized members of these organizations often, which means a lot of these people can move abroad to other countries. It's why in Canada, in UK, and in US there are big groups of Khalistani supporters. They've been getting active again recently. In 2023, here in Canada, things reached it's peak when Hardeep Nijjar was murdered in Surrey and the then-PM Trudeau blamed India for it. It soured relationships for a bit because India recognized Nijjar as a terrorist and in Canada we didn't, so the accusation was considered very farfetched.

@ Bold: I know! And Diljit had to clarify that he went on the Jimmy Fallon show specifically to promote Punjabi welfare and show Punjabis as more than just Khalistan, so of course he would say he's from Punjab and not India.
