Kohli praises Dhurandhar 2, calls Aditya Dhar 'genius'. People on X ask, 'How much were you paid?'

New Delhi: Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge has brought a tsunami at the box office, and has become one of the biggest cinematic successes in recent times. Many from the industry have applauded the film, with the recent addition being cricketer Virat Kohli and his wife, actress Anushka Sharma.
Kohli, in his Instagram Stories, praised the film, calling it a cinematic experience unlike anything he has witnessed in Indian cinema. He applauded filmmaker Aditya Dhar for his vision while giving a special mention to Ranveer for his performance.
“Saw the film today and dare I say that I’ve never ever seen a cinematic experience like this made in India. It brought out every kind of emotion to the surface and I didn’t flinch once for almost 4 hours,” Kohli wrote, alongside a poster of the film.
“Aditya Dhar your talent and conviction is reflected in what you’ve created. Hats off to you. You’re a genius. And although all actors were great in their roles BUT Ranveer Singh you have attained a different level after this movie and your performance was beyond brilliant. Absolutely WOW,” he added.
‘Lowest point’
The post took the internet by storm. Many users on X said that with the post, Kohli has shown that he has a “spine”, while some of his fans were visibly upset.
“Until today, I thought you had the strongest spine among all cricketers. It’s sad to see you also bow down to power like any other player or celebrity. This isn’t you,” a post on X read.
According to a user on X, Kohli’s post has rattled the entire “Khan’s fanbase and left wing.” Some said it’s a “tight slap to Dhurv Rathee, lefties and some Bollywood actors who were calling it a propaganda movie.”
Fans even joked that it wouldn’t be surprising if Dhar directs Kohli’s biopic.
Dhar was overwhelmed by Kohli’s review and said that getting appreciation from the cricketer “just hits different.”
“Wooowww! Can’t believe this is happening Virat, this genuinely means so much. Been a fan since your under 19WC days. Watching a once-in-a-generation legend show love like this just hits different. The way you carry the country every time you step out inspires us, in our own small way, we’ll always try to make India proud with our films. Jai Hind,” he wrote on Instagram.
Meanwhile, some accounts on X blamed the “BJP IT Cell” for pushing paid posts for Dhurandhar, and Kohli following it.
“Aditya dhar would have paid virat around 12cr to promote his film,” a Kohli fan page tweeted.
A user even called it the “lowest point” of Kohli’s career.
Some Pakistani influencers also alleged that Dhar paid Rs 500 crore from Dhurandhar’s box office collection to Kohli for putting up an Instagram Story.
Anushka Sharma, too, praised Dhar for creating a “gripping and immersive” film which is “meticulously crafted.” She even applauded Ranveer for seizing a “one in a lifetime character.”
