But here Hamza was a popular figure unlike Ajit Doval....Heck he even did TV appearances...To hold any official post, remember he wasn't even supposed to be alive..May be a small inconspicuous clerical post or something but what kind of a life would that be...

I doubt he would be paraded around in media even if he were working for the intelligence. All agency officials are not on TV, so why would he have to occupy a lower clerical post? He could still work in the agency like other covert operatives do.

The tragedy is exactly that, he lost both his old and new family despite being alive....

Honestly, I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if Hamza had died

Every character I love dies, I don't want lose Hamza although I know his life is torn apart, he can't return to his family but he can lead a life in India away from the violence, he is not a killing machine anymore

Same, I did not want him to die so I was really happy with how it ended...but then I am also in the minority which liked Pt 2 more than Pt 1!! Except for the music and propaganda, I found Pt 2 to be better than Pt 1!!

Yes...I too felt relieved but I was talking from the spectacle pov....Aanand wouldn't be the Aanand we have come to love if they showed Rajesh Khanna being alive in the end...Deewaar wouldn't be Deewaar if Amitabh's character doesn't die...Padmaavat's biggest USP is the Rani dying in the end...Titanic, Blood diamond, The Departed- I mean the list goes on and on...I get it that by making his life virtually useless to him, the ending is still tragic.

I do feel him not dying could also be cause they may want to revisit the film with Hamza's character....like a Pt 3...although that would be preposterous and something I would be opposed to, but who knows.

I do wonder though that if the "main handler spy" would not have put in a word to save Hamza, would Sanyal have moved things for him and used such an important blackmail tool at that very time?

That's my suspicion too and may be why I was so bothered with him being alive...Not that they couldn't resurrect him if they need him back...which would be even more preposterous...:/

But Jamali knew he wasn't going to be with his daughter even if he remained alive..So what could be his motivation? His daughter begging him to keep him alive?

BTW, hope they didn't hurt Zayan...we didn't see him after that altercation so...:(

I am going to watch again at 9 so after multiple watches, I can tell which one I liked better because I watched part one many times in theater then OTT

The only dimming point for me was Didi song because I associate that with comedy scene of Govinda and Ranveer's scene was exactly opposite of that

Yeah I can understand Jamali's motivations, he ofc would have come to think of Hamza as his "bacha" but genuinely not just cause he was Yalina's husband and father of his grandchild but even otherwise cause of their common cause and background. I am more curious about Sanyal, whether he would have saved Hamza if not for Jamali requesting him. But then it was obvious that even Sanyal had a very close bond with Hamza and would have done it for him irrespective if for nothing else but to repay him for the service he had provided to the nation.
