No Karan didn't but when Noyna's issue was mentioned Tulsi mentioned her.

Also Karan said that he is a result of Mihir 's mistake.

Later Gautam said that Karan isn't Tulsi's son but Mandira's

Karan’s struggles were never financial. I don’t think FP even implied that they were, they were always more about being accepted by Mihir, the psychological and emotional toll that the condition of his mother’s apparent mental health took on him as well as his father’s refusal to accept him as a son.

Mandira had him in Australia after she managed to randomly bump into Mihir, who was there for some business trip. We don’t know how Mandira managed to empty enough funds from her accounts or raise enough money by selling her shares/cars/jewellery/properties to settle in Australia without making Anupam realise the same as one would presume that he would have managed the transfer/closing of her assets and bank accounts post her presumed death.

How he never knew that there were assets missing/sold or accounts emptied probably in instalments or maybe all at once before her death is beyond me.

Even if Mandira had her own money courtesy of her career as a doctor, we don’t know how she got to Australia. Heck, Anupam and his mom never even wondered how her passport was missing afterwards is a mystery. Because per Hindu traditions, the items belonging to the dead which can be donated are given away to the needy and the poor on the 13th day post their death, else the rituals post the death aren’t considered complete and the departed soul is not properly allowed to move on or even have liberation. So one would presume they had to have emptied out her cupboards, drawers and eventually had to have closed her bank accounts, demat accounts, lockers and any investments made in terms of FDs or MFs or otherwise. They would have transferred the properties she had inherited/owned to Anupam’s name too as I doubt her mom was willing to do it given she had lost a young daughter.

Mandira was quite wealthy but it’s hard to get how her family would never figure out all these loopholes and have questions about her presumed death.

We can imagine that post Karan getting born Mihir took care of her financially as in S1 there was a scene where he is telling the family that Mandira’s doctor called him to inform him she was pregnant, but he never quite landed to see her or take care of her. The doctor would call to inform him about the updates but he never made the calls himself. Then he eventually got the call from her doctor that she had given birth to his son. He says that he couldn’t neglect his duties towards the child who wasn’t at fault for what had transpired between Mandira and him, couldn’t just dismiss his existence so he did what he could and ensured that Karan never lacked for anything be it food, clothes, good education, a roof over his head etc.

We can presume though it was never clearly stated that Mihir also perhaps made some investments in Karan’s name in Australia so that his son could have some share of his inheritance thinking that perhaps he would never inherit anything from his paternal or maternal families, this was the least Mihir could do to ensure his security until Karan was old enough and capable enough to take care of his own finances and earn his own money.

So Karan having money isn’t the biggest issue here. What Karan lacked was a dad who loved him and acknowledged him as his own, a mom who wasn’t pretending to be a nutcase; not to mention a huge loving family with siblings and cousins, uncles, aunts, grandparents. Yes, Gautam too missed out on these but he never had to think he was being rejected by his dad for merely existing even though he thought Kiran was his dad. Kiran didn’t deny accepting him as a son, he had assumed he had a sibling in Karisma too, a mom in Aarti.

Karan and Gautam have both had messed up childhoods where money wasn’t the issue but the environment a child needs definitely were - however even there if we compare, Karan got the shorter stick. I had mentioned this in the previous EDT - Gautam is the child the family pined for, Karan is the child who pined for a family; a family that didn’t even know he existed and shunned him the very moment they found out about him.

Like i mentioned earlier too, one of the few good things that have happened is a good revision of Season 1 courtesy Gautam-Karan.

Now coming to Gautam vs Karan's upbringing.

Why i mentioned about Karan being brought up abroad was exactly about the prejudice associated to a single mother. Not financial at ALL.

Even to this day, we operate under certain societal norms that are more relaxed and more accepted elsewhere.

So, to say Karan may have faced prejudice, discrimination due to him being born out of wedlock may not be the case.

Success is a GREAT normaliser. When Karan came to India, he was successful, people would have tried to probe, even talk behind closed doors but would Not dare cross the line.

Next about acceptance/blending in.

It is natural for younger children to be accepted. Like for example: it is easier for Akshay and Madhavi to blend into any family compared to Angad-Vrinda despite the duration being 6-7 years.

Imagine Angad rejoins Virani Industries and is given a project and he is running a certain way (may be something thay worked 7 years back) and Hritik or Parth come to correct him at regular intervals about changes that may have happened for something as, in their operating model, changes in compliance rules etc. it would hurt Angad, may be he would feel he doesn’t belong there anymore or doesn't habe the freedom anymore.

Likewise Munni has been with Viranis since her childhood, practically raised with the family and knows them better than Vrinda. So, when there are repeated instances where Munni is for example given more responsibilities, work than Vrinda, unintentional comparison (which invariably will occur in a joint family), there sets in a silent, unintentional resentment towards the said person.

There was a scene in Season 1 where Hemant's wife Pooja had said that she had accepted the fact the neither would she get the same respect or importance as Tulsi nor the acceptance from the elders of the family. She only had one thing she could say she did right was by raising her children right and that too was taken off her woth Tarun being implicated in a false case and Saahil wanting to marry Ganga.

Now draw parallels of this kind of acceptance to Karan, Gautam, for that matter ever Saahil.

that could be another reason why he can't leave the US.

It would be illogical to show nandini getting annoyed about him being in touch with tanya, especially since nandini made so many sacrifices for tanya's sake , knowing all along that karan only loves her (nandini).
